  • Finally finished these:

They hardly took any time in total, just seemed ages as I did bits here and there when I needed something not too complicated!
Making a hatch which kind of matches with the left over yarn (see rav for more if anyone interested).

They look nice and cosy Orkney, the colour is really nice. Are they made with double knitting?

They are gorgeous Orkney and I love the yarn you chose. They look very fancy and complicated!

Thanks to you lot I spent €53 on a set of Knit Pro Symphonie needles. :) I had 10% discount so I decided to go for it. I normally try to get the cheapest deals on Ebay etc but it was nice to to support one of my local yarn shops, I should really do it more often as I'd hate them to close down.

And my Faroese Sirri yarn arrived today :j - it smells ... interesting! I think it's probably the lanolin. I don't think I've used anything so rustic and unprocessed before. So now I really have to crack on with the sock so I can start The Jumper - just turned the heel but won't get any/much done this eve - hopefully tomorrow.

I got Stitch 'n' B*tch Superstar Knitting out of the library - has anyone else read it? I've also ordered Knitting Without Tears by Elizabeth Zimmermann from The Book Depository (only €5.91 inc delivery) so hopefully between the two I'll learn enough to be able to knit a raglan jumper in the round and add in a Faroese motif. Hopefully! I have a feeling I don't even know enough to be too daunted by the task ahead! :D

Have a great evening everyone! :)
Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far! :)
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

  • Hello everyone I have been lurking for a while but havent posted before.

I have been teaching myself to knit as I have a baby on the way and wanted to knit a baby blanket. I have almost finished my first scarf! Its a bit wonky in places and i propably made it a bit wide but I got there in the end!

Can anyone reccommend an easybaby blanket pattern? I was thinking that maybe kniting squares and sewing them together would be the eaisest way and stop me getting disheartened?

    All advice greatfully received :)

  • How did I do this?? I was knitting a cowl on circular needles and I'd knitted about 6 inches with Debbie Bliss Andes wool and I'd twisted it!! I unpicked it and made some fingerless gloves. It's really lovely wool to knit with but I just can't get to grips with circular needles. How do I prevent twisting?
    Thanks

I'm just doing a baby blanket at the moment (for my best friend) - the pattern is all in knit stitch and is done in strips of squares (will upload a pic shortly so you can see what I mean!) in three ifferent colours (3strips of 2 colours and 2 strips of a new colour and one of the previous colours) which have to be sewn together when done - pattern is one by sirdar that I got in my local shop - I'm sure a variant will be available on ravelry!

Edit no I can't post a pic - I've lost it :-/ (I do it on the train)

    Lost the blanket?????????? :eek::eek::eek:

lizzieknit if you google there is loads of advice about joining without twisting. I always lay it flat to check before joining.

I have finished my first bedsock - made in Sublime. Looks an odd shape as I did 8" of ribbing to make it grip the leg...
