    Thank you.
These are the tutorials I use for my Sock Monkeys

You then really develop your own way of doing them and add extras like hair or accessories. Can also make different animals. The possibilities are endless.

I think this is a long shot but I am looking for a knitting pattern for a traditional fishermans rib sweater for a man, I have the wool, its the 5 ply Guernsey by Wendy and knitted on 2.5 & 3mm needles, I have spent weeks searching without any success, I am hoping that someone on here could help.

    Thanks so much

Have you searched using the term Gansey? This is what these fisherman sweaters, made from 5ply knitted on small needles in the round are called near me.

I managed to find one pattern source for you :

    Hope this helps.

Just finished some socks for DS, more pics on ravelry. Been doing a bit of project hopping recently, lots of things half or 2/3rd done but getting some finished too. These were just using some (thin) DK scraps and are a tad too big, intentionally, so he gets more use from them! Pattern was toe up and the simple design was improvised by me :).

  • Those socks are too cute! Now that the weather is cooling off a bit, I quite fancy knitting a few more socks, must find my old DPNs out.

I had a small brainwave this morning, I am on a massive de-cluttering spree and was sorting through the kids old clothes, I find it really hard to give them away or sell them as they are full of memories.

So I decided to keep all of the knitted items they had, whether made or brought and re-claim the wool from them, then I am going to knit it all into a memory blanket.

No real plans for it, just see how it goes, i'm starting with squares, looking through all the patterns on ravelry, I've chosen a kitty one to begin with, knitted with some cream coloured aran from a really sweet jumper which my eldest wore all winter about 10yrs ago:)

Oh what a lovely idea. The knitted version of a patchwork memory quilt. Good luck with it and I hope you'll show us when it's done.
Oh dear, here we go again.

Those socks are great, very cute.

Does anyone know of anywhere to buy odds and ends of wool? I brought six balls of different colour DK for a blanket, and one of them seems to be slightly different from the rest, I have lots left over of the other colours but ran out of one and I only need enough to finish half a square. I'd buy one but it's not a colour I'm likely to use again,
  • I love the sock monkeys, although i have the socks the purple one is made of and they are very warm and snuggly!

Ebay, Freecycle or more surprisingly your local woolshop. Mine often has bags of odds and ends for 20p left over from the stuff they've knitted for display. Otherwise join a local knitting group and hope someone there has a bit of what you're after. Its probably cheaper just to buy another ball though.

Why is knitting so relaxing? It was blowng a hoolie last night, the rain was battering the windows and I was sat knitting in front of the fire. Random thoughts pootled around in my head and before I knew it several hours had passed by and several inches of knitting had appeared on my needles. Unfortunately what appeared on my needles had little in common with the pattern I wasn't following and so my rib is more than a little offset. Will be starting tomorrow by pulling back to something symetrical :o
