Afternoon everyone, hope we are all well

Currently 80% of the way through a geeky inspired baby blanket for my cousins first child and I was wondering if anyone could help point me in the right direction for an edging pattern?

I don't really crochet (haven't done it in YEARS so am a bit rusty) so am looking for something knitted or something that is ultra easy to crochet on

    TIA

Hi i am currently making a blanket too and just finished knitting one but stuck on the crochet borders at the moment! I am doing a simple single crochet border (well doesn't seem that simple anymore as i need help! lol) but i think this is the simplest edging to do if you want ultra easy. Have a look on YouTube for videos maybe you can find a way to add another round as i am not having any luck! :)

Think I could probably knit this pattern in my sleep now. Have green to do another one, but may have to pop another project in first. Three in a row is enough for a minute.

Love The Zhu Zhu bags and Baktus Orkney Star and Cuddles.

Supposed to be cooking dinner, had to pop this on quick as it's probably being delivered tomorrow. Should have finished it yesterday, but the iron died, so have had to go and get a new one today.

NannyJanny; The cardigan is so sweet. I love the colours you have used. You are so neat. :0)

Orkneystar; Those little carriers for little critters are a great idea. Bet your son was over the moon.

Hi, hope I'm posting in the right place.

Im not a very experienced knitter. I can manage the basics, but Im always a bit nervous of altering patterns, substituting yarns etc. (I have to follow everything to the letter!)

I've got Rowan pattern for a cardi that I get out every autumn, but I've never attempted it as I cant afford the wool (Rowan Big Wool), especially if I end up making a huge mess and it all goes to waste! Can anyone suggest a cheaper alternative to Big Wool. I have searched and found a couple of american websites which have huge lists of alternatives, but Im not sure how useful these are

    TIA:)

Yes, know what you mean - it is pricey! 2 options spring to mind- have you looked on Ebay - there's always loads on there, and the other option is to compare yarns using the tension stated on the pattern - i.e. look around for a substitute which has exactly the same tension and needle size etc (all usually stated on the ball band). Then you should be able to get a good substitute. The only hitch is that this may not help if you want to buy online- don't know if all yarn sites state tension.

Some of these- http://www.deramores.com/super-chunky-knitting-yarn on Delamores are close. That is thick wool! You might have to do the dreaded tension square and move up or down a needle size.

RIGHT KNITTERS PreemiesUK IS SENDING A PLEA OUT. just been told that SANDS are running out of Blankets for their memory boxes. So i am asking my knitters to send me their blankets and we will send a big parcel of blankets and help them. I am asking for 100 blankets and if we can get more that would be fantastic. Do you think we can get that amount.
