Pepop; Thanks for that link it made it much clearer, still don't think I could do it tho
NannyJanny; They are pretty cool hats, wouldn't mind one myself
Spider; Thanks for the explanation on what it is about, it does make sense if it stops water going through the seams of jumpers for the fishermen.0 -
Ok, this is actually crochet:shhh:, but just wanted to show you guys I have been doing some craft.........
DS got the Zhu Zhu's for his birthday from Grandma, and they needed carriers so instead of buying expensive ones I made these from a free ravelry pattern. I need to also crochet beds but the only pattern for those costs pennies, so trying to improvise one at some point.......
I have also been doing my toe up lace anklet and am 95% finished the first one.....I really like it, pattern is great designed by a high school student too!
Really need to crack on finishing WIP's, esp socks as want to take them away on summer hols. Also got a cracking pair of shoes yesterday which will show the socks off no end!
Here they are: http://www.flickr.com/photos/28682309@N04/5856204978/
Had a lovely time over the weekend, DS was 4, so an exciting Saturday for us and also kinda dragged on to Sunday too (DH was away on a smaller island but me and DS still had more fun and cake!).
Hope all are well, smiling and clickety clicking!

Thanks! I actually find it easy to crochet more neatly than knit!!
Weather is ok, kind of over-cast but not that cold. Apparently Orkney has the best weather in Scotland (but that is not saying much really lol!) Is it rain with you ?
I gave in and bought the $3.00 sleep sack pattern from etsy, I thought I would get it straight away but obviously not.....America is asleep and the seller presumably has to do something!xErmutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

thanks cuddles just what i needed. i finally plucked up courage to go to the sewing club yesterday and the 3 hours just flew by. it was great. there 3 tutors there one for knitting one dress making and the other basically does it all, was a shame they out numbered the pupils, just me and my mum. all my mum did was to sit and have a natter as she only came to support me bless her, her eyes are fading fast. anyhow i was shown how to thread up a machine and just couldnt get the hang of it so we moved on to sewing lines and she said it was probably best to start on a hand operated machine to start with. well!! i surprised my self in no time i could do lines she had drawn on and not much out when doing without the print. told her i have 3 machines at home and have never used any of them so she have me homework to do more straight lines on my own machine once i have threaded it up :eek::eek: am terrified!!
she says if that goes well we may cut out pattern next week. have bought some material i would like to make a maxi halter neck dress and one to make a sarong so cross fingers.... will let you know how i got on if anyone interested??0 -
Glad it went well homealone. Do let us know how you go.
Orkney - if you have the patience for socks, you can make a Baktus as it knits up quickly. I started another in Noro Silk Garden Lite and it's going even quicker on the thicker yarn.Jack of all trades ... Master of none

Perhaps, but I like socks as it is sections, cuff, leg, heel, foot, toe, or the other way round if you start at the bottom.....perhaps one day when I finish all these WIP's!!Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

Hi guys i am back again and sorry to be a pain but i need some help! I've finished knitting my blanket and started adding a simple single crochet edging to my blanket (adding a picot on top afterwards) 3but i am now stuck! I've followed the YouTube video where the lady puts 3 stitches through the same hole on the corners as you turn to get a nice round corner but as i've finished one round of border i want to do a couple more rounds but how do i do this? Do i carry on to the next round by putting 3 stitches into that same hole again on the corner? Or do i chain 1 and continue single crocheting around? But if i do this i noticed the little circle where i have place the 3 stitches in before to create the curve corners... and it looks funny as i am not doing that same method again. How do i over come this? Until i find out i am at a halt!
Hope this all makes sense? This is my first project and i want to get this right, hope all you talented ladies can help a thicko! x
It's ok! I've found out how to do it now...0
