:j:j:j:j am very happy today, have added to my stash
naughty i know but have also found some friends to go out and play with. i was passing a sex shop and then a book shop, not surprising as i was in kings cross, but then fell over a small blackboard that read come join in our knitting and cocktail evenings. well it was this lovely olde worlde shop all laid out inside with gingham and jars of sweets from yesteryear. it was as though someone had been passing over head and dropped it by accident. well they had my attention with the knitting and cocktails but then at the bottom of the sign it read come look through our bargain box of wool. well that was that then i shot in the shop like a 5 yr old let loose in a sweet shop but this sold more than wool and sweeties but all sorts of house knik knacks then up about 10 steps at the back of the shop you find this lovely little cafe, i did nt get to look upstairs as i spent so long gathering my odd balls of wool just what i needed as am making 2 blankets that are supposed to use up all my odd balls of wool but dont think i will have enough to finish one for definite as my ds1 has decided he only wants shades of blue. so have some more for that. most of the wool was in bags of 3 or sometimes 4 balls of wool for a pound. i have seen adverts for little knitting circles now it has become a trendy thing in outer london but never this central to me. cant wait for next tuesday when it is held to see how it is. i dont get out much as my mobility has worsened the last 6 months and this would be a perfect place to meet new people and even get some help maybe when stuck and all with a cocktail, it cant be bad. i will report back as to how it goes, but must walk past the cabinet displaying the wool with my eyes closed as with this last find i now find myself with 5 projects all on the go
Oh let me know where it is, I can get there from work in about 15 minutes.Jan GC £96.95/£120; NSD 26/31

Gosh you have all been busy! Cuddles you are going from strength to strength. Orkney Star your scarf is beautiful.
I completed a cabled hoodie, bit of a sludgy green (from leftovers). GD1 was not impressed with the colour! DIL's nephew loved it. Was more of a boy's colour I suppose. Hey ho, it's found a home. DIL's nephew also requested a scarf for toy bunny, so that's done. He's wondering if I could make a waistcoat for Bunbun...!
Need to get my teeth into a good Aran or similar. The idea of trying circulars is nagging away at the back of my mind as well......
Have to break off from knitting to construct argument to the taxman today. He has decided I owe him over £500 for ye April 10. Just what we need with OH redundant next Thursday. Luckily MSE newsletter has stuff on the very same thing this morning. I gave all the info at the time, so I hope I'm successful.

Ah you see I start lots of things, have them all on the go and then finish them one after the other....so it looks fast, but then some times I go for ages finishing nothing! Also I always sneak a wee row in here and there and have the knitting bag to hand! I love seeing how some folk are picking up skills, like cuddles for example, so encouraging- there is always something to learn with knitting (and crochet).
NannyJanny- did you sort out the tax thing ?

I have a habit of having a "finishing off day" when I power through several WIP's at once. Got to feel in the mood haven't you. Isn't it a lovely feeling when you can then cast on again? Apart from socks. Socks are on the go all the time.
Spent yesterday morning drowning in bits of paper/files/and wage slips from 2009/2010. Did loads of sums, (than goodness for Excel spreadsheet) and lo and behold they didn't take enough tax. My defense is, I gave them all the information about my income as soon as any changes occurred. I wrote letters that were things of beauty with little grid things that added all my income up. Glad to say I had copies on the laptop so I have sent them off with polite but incredulous letter. I hope to plead honesty under the A19 clause. Details of which are on MSE http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/reclaim/2011/03/thousands-get-tax-demands-written-off-using-hmrc-loophole
Basically it seems to apply if you gave them all the necessary information and they didn't act on it. Put it here in case it's useful.
So watch this space. I don't hold out much hope really. I wouldn't have minded paying if they had taken it in the first place, but it's a bit of a shocker to get a bill for over £500.
Got cheated out of £30 in the paper shop this morning. Topped up gas and electric keys, asked for £30 on each. Gave them £60. Got home and found they'd only put £15 on each! Sorted out with a phone call. Have to go back tomorrow.
Do you see a pattern developing here?!
Moan, moan, moan. Never mind, sun's shining!
