I really should rejoin this thread as I have been lurking for some time ... I have started a jumper for my lovely mum for her christmas ... i hope i can finish it in time lol. Everyone tends to get a scarf but this year I want to give something more. Last christmas my mum had asked for a shoulder warmer so i managed one of those ... i used up some wool i had left over from making a scarf for a friend, combined it with some really thin wool i have had since we lived overseas and managed to make it! She was so chuffed with it. My poor dad has had a scarf for the last two years and says he is quite happy with that but i really want to make him something different but will see how this jumper turns out! I'm not the world's best knitter so will have to wait and see!

Was out today looking for trousers to wear to a funeral. I got some but also a ball of Diploma Gold 4 ply in grey, a 90% full ball of what looks like the same wool in green and a part of a cone in a lovely blue/purple colour.....definitely a decent percentage of wool as can tell by feel (will maybe also do bleach test too!). 50p each so could not resist ;). I did resist the highly overpriced wool in the other shop though!

  • Hi ladies,

I don't normally post here, but I always read what you are up to. I've invested in The Art of Knitting collection to go alongside my Needlecraft Magic that I got years ago for my sewing, so I thought I would share the pictures with you:

The garter stitch on this was nice and straight forward, as I have a bit of a basic knitting knowledge.

Same square, just with the blanket stitch heart on, it's okay, as I've not done this stitch before but I got better on the left hand side.

Looking forward to receiving the rest of the collection now.

I bought that mag too - was worth it for the needles and yarn.

Well done kezbabybabe on your first square!

I've just finished another Spiral Scarf for my daughter

My mum gave me loads of her old patterns (she has arthritis in her hands and can't knit anymore) and I recognise some of those from my file :) The old patterns are great - I made some amazing jumpers from them and some of the old baby clothes are fantastic.

I have found patterns in the loft and also while scouring the charity shops that I used 25 years ago to knit for my sons. Now I've got them out again to knit for my first grandchild. :j They bring back memories - although I've found that my brain and fingers aren't quite as quick and nimble as they were then. :rotfl:

Hehe, Mum did that with the patterns she made for us as kids, knitting a fair few for her grandchildren, all 5 of them. I now have all her patterns, so when my grandchildren come along, I have a whole stack to choose from!
