If you look at my ravelry page you will see that I have explained what I did (although in short hand).
This wool drapes very well and I knitted with a slightly larger needle than the ball band specified.
Basically I cast on 70 stitches on 8mm needles and knitted in stocking stitch (row knit, row purl) until 9 inches long. I then draped it over my neck and arranged it so one 'right side' lay on top of the other at the bottom. I pinned it together like that, and then stitched along the bottom seam.
With hindsight I wish I had knitted garter stitch but the stocking stitch still looks ok.
I am really not sure how this would work for other wools (so please don't expect this to automatically work for other wools!), ISIS is an odd wool, chunky but actually a thin thread with thick fluff on it!
If you wanted to search for a pattern perhaps cowl, gaiter, neck warmer might give something ?Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

Also meant to say, here is the startings of DS's cable jumper (has asked for another jumper!):
Going well so far!
Meant to say cuddles, those scarves are lovely....you will be way ahead with your Christmas presents for next year by now!
I have crocheted ruffle scarves but never tried the knitted ones as yet!

I wonder if anyone who gets Let's Knit magazine can help.
I am knitting the Mel pattern from issue December 09. I have got to the shaping the shoulder on page 18 and before shaping I had to end so that the RS was facing but then it says next WS row for the next three rows so not sure if this is a misprint as otherwise I will end up with purl stitches on knit rows. I can't see anything obvious on the picture so don't know whether I should just carry on following the pattern.
Can anyone help?

Am looking at replacing my random collection of straight knitting needles with some lovely sparkly new ones ~ first instinct was to go for the knit - pro set as I already have the circular needle set however then came across these and remembered someone saying how good they found casein needles. What's your thoughts chaps? ~ they are considerably cheaper

Thanks
