Thanks Errata
Problem is that with this pattern it isn't obvious until you have done quite a few rows so I would have to unpick everything.
Its not too bad actually, so I think I'll leave it.
Just wondered if there is a failsafe way of distinguishing K and P when the stitches are knitted out of order in cable so stretched or twisted?Jack of all trades ... Master of none

I think the only failsafe method is to check the right side of the work as you complete each row..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

These are great for just sitting around, in wellies or as bedsocks. Not so good for wearing with shoes. They would be ideal for toddlers as it doesn't matter how they put them on because there's no fixed heel.
Can't wait to get some wool and try this pattern.
Would love to see a pic when you finish? These sound intrigueing!

I have tried to do that Errata, but the pattern is Ensign's Braid, so you need to do quite a few rows before the pattern becomes obvious.
Think I've been a bit ambitious.Jack of all trades ... Master of none

Cuddles....on the row where you dont cable the stitches you will be knitting 4,6 or 8 stitches, so you will just have to purl them on the wrong side after the 'cable' row....if you understand what I am not explaining very well. On the cable you have done already you have 4 stitches which you purl on the wrong side...it will work on the same system however complicated or large the actual cable is...ok I think that I should stop now, before I confuse you any further, sorry

Am trying to link a pic... I made one of these earlier, and it's turned out pretty cool. Very good for bedsocks and "round the house" socks!

Thanks for that.
So I will always be either Knitting or Purling in 4s, 6s or 8s if a cable is eg
Cr4R P2 Cr4L twice
Next line will be
P3. K1, K2, K1, P3 twice so P3 K4 P3 twice. SO NOT 4s 6s or 8s
Sorry if this seems dim.
I can follow the cable (odd numbered) rows.
Even numbered rows just say
K all K sts and P all P stsJack of all trades ... Master of none
