So I put DS's ribbed hat on hold for a bit, along with the socks, so I can finish his jumper that I started last yr- going ok, only 1 sleeve to knit then make it all up!
Have been on ravelry and also searching for patterns online and in charity shop as wanna make myself a long vest with a ball of wool I was making a jumper from- thinking of trying entrelac- anyone tried it, is it hard ?
OK, hope all are well, I STILL have the cold so not so happy about that but otherwise trying to smile!

Right, this is a really silly question
but I hope someone can answer it for me.
You know when you see pics of socks on sort of cut out shapes (wooden?) that make them look nice and show the shape of them properly? Anybody know what they are called and/or where I can get some? I've searched on ebay under sock shaper (nothing) and sock stretcher (a few vintage ones in the USA) but can't think what else to search by!Oh dear, here we go again.0 -

Hmmm a quick google search reveals how to make them in blogs such as this.
ETA I have just ordered a massive ball of yoyo wool in caramel with aim to making the entrelac waistcoat I want!Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

They're called sock blockers, and they are expensive, and you have to buy them for different sizes!
I made some from one of those flexible plastic chopping mats - they don't look as pretty as the wooden ones, but they do the job just as well and they were a lot cheaper :-)
(If you're on Rav you can see my diy ones on my projects page and there's a link from there to the instructions.)0 -

I was thinking about a picture of someone knitting money or something but not sure how easy that would be ?
In the short term something will balls of wool on it would be a start ?Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

Yep, those are mine that you just favourited over on Rav :-)
I had a set of three chopping mats that I bought in Tesco or somewhere a while ago and they'd seen better days, so I figured I might as well use one of those. They were a bit thicker than the Cookworks ones that Argos carries, but those would probably do.0 -

LOL
I've just came back from the shops and seen they had 20mm ones!
Blimey!

I've knitted with a 20mm one before and the other needle was probably a 4mm. It was for a tank top I knitted myself when I was about 8 or 9. It was a bit weird to knit with two different sized needles. Was a bit miffed as the first time I wore it I ended up burning the thread slightly whilst helping my mum cook dinnerDid owe £9,951.96
