Well that is good reason to stop from now on if I ever heard one! Hope he was ok!
Not really...rote off the car and was in hospital for a week. Lots of bruising (impressive seat-belt shaped!) and developed gout soon afterwards too!! He now knows he can't make it down to Inverness and back in a day without stopping at least once each way...he is 77 now, but doesn't like accepting he is getting old!!

Finished my first circle sock, so off now to get going with the second.

    Happy knitting everyone!!

    PS lovely work Thrifty!!

    Just popping in!
Still got cold- sinuses are agony now.
Still knitting socks- going slowly due to pain.
Keiss- poor man, bet he learned a lesson though! I drove from Scrabster to Perth (could not quite make all the way to Glasgow!), no stops on the way down this time, but when we got to Perth we were starving and needing some other services too lol! Stopped at Ralia, Inverness, Golspie on the way back as had loads of time!
    xx

Oh dear, poor Orkney...I can sympathise..still unable to wear my glasses for too long due to painful sunuses. So still can't do any cross-stitch, but I can knit!! About to start the heel on my second circle sock...really like the Eye of Partridge design.

I like stopping at Ralia too...often quite busy though. Always take plenty of food so we don't have to buy any...except for hot drinks if required. We always have plenty of water though. As a loo-stop, and reasonably-priced food, the Tall Pines at Dornoch is good. This saves going into Inverness...even to Tescos. We always used to stop at Tomatin, both going north and south. We would go in for hot drinks and pancakes (and the loo ofcourse:D!!)....shame it closed down...though the land has been sold I seem to remember.
Temps up to 11 degrees now...was 1.2 this morning !!! Plenty of frost...not long before sub-zero temps here I suspect, though it's due to get warmer and wetter for the next few days. This is probably a good thing for us as our boiler has stopped working . I have left loads of messages for our Gas Man...hope he will get in touch soon :o. Typical...we gave out boiler a test-run a few weeks ago and it was fine...it just had to wait for the cold weather to break down :mad::mad:.

Have a great day everyone....(((((hugs))))) to those feeling under the weather...or feeling a touch cold today.

I hope you feel better soon OrkneyStar

I'm trying to focus on my Christmas knitting, I made rather an annoying error in something I'm knitting for myself and feared the knitting gods were punishing me for not working on my MiL's Christmas scarf!!

Aw, hope your sinuses get better soon Orkney and Keiss. x

Forgot to say my sister was very impressed when she saw I managed to knit using DPNs. Am quite chuffed with that myself!

Not been in here for ages - am looking for a pattern for gloves, for a 2yr old. has anybody seen a pattern for thsi size ? or is it all mitts for that age ? I wanted knit the youngest GC gloves and a wee hat.
  • My daughter wants me to knit one of these. I've got one of those needles for knitting in the round. Will that do the job instead of four needles?

It will work if you use the Magic Loop method (see my explanation at http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=35805841&postcount=2921 if you're not sure what that is).

    Hi Mardatha,

I've just knitted some gloves for my son, from a pattern called Bits & Pieces - you can see it part way down this page:

    http://www.wightcatwools.com/wools/knits_pieces.htm

I knitted the 6-8 year size for him and he's only 5, there is also a 3 -5 year size and you can always adjust finger length etc.

Let me know if it would be of any use and I can scan a "backup copy" ;);)
