A little help please...
I have found a free pattern for really cute bootees which I thought could be my first project, they are modern and easy. But.....they suggest a sport weight yarn, and the one they used is a 55% cashmere!!! no profit there, so what can I use instead? I have been looking at Kemps website and was wondering if someone could explain how I choose the correct yarn, I'm not sure how to decide which one would be good for my project. Is this a problem for everyone or is there something I am missing in how to do this. Thanks0 -

Just spent £20:rolleyes: Guess what everyone will be getting for Xmas 2010:D0 -
Just starting trying to knit a stretchy hat for a preemie! Should keep me out of mischief for a while.
I've been looking for wool for DS's jumper - I posted the pattern on here yesterday. Do you think this looks like a good wool / price? I'm really out of touch as haven't bought any for ages. http://www.kempswoolshop.com/wool_details.aspx?selectedItemID=-1303606147
I thought it looks nice and don't think I'd get for much cheaper from a local wool shop, but could be wrong.Flymarkeeteer: £168 and counting0 -

Not sure if they have any special offers just now - might have to have a look.:D
Mumof2 - that wool looks good value. 400g for under £6 is very reasonable to me. Large balls like that are £6.99 upwards in my area.
Good luck with the jumper, it looks cute.Fully paid up member of S.A.B.L.E.

I've never done a tension square - is this something you would recommend? What difference does it make? Is it that if I knit tight I use bigger needles, or if loose smaller needles?
Sorry, my inexperience is showing isn't it!
Shazrobo, glad to hear that the wool knits up lovely; let's hope it's forgiving of my errors lol!Flymarkeeteer: £168 and counting0 -
Hi, haven't had chance to look through this thread properly yet but have already seen lots of useful links so thank you! I've been knitting for about three months, got the Stitch 'n (word for female dog; won't let me type it, oops) book for Christmas, so will be hanging around and possibly asking questions
have been knitting half the time the last three days, think I might be a little bit addicted, would love to see my kids wearing something I've made -all I've done so far is practise, oh and make a lopsided donkey for the nativity scene I made for my grandma!:rotfl:
I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick @ss.... and I'm all out of bubblegum.0
