I like knitting socks in the 'Regia' sock yarn. My local wool shop does 2 balls (enough for one pair) for £6.99 & I do like to support local specialist shops but have recently bought some on ebay from a lady from Stockport who has an ebay woolshop and some of her 'Regia' wool is £1.75 and £1.95 a ball. Once you've bought an item, she only charges postage on additional items at 20p or so and so I've bought enough to knit my next 4 pairs and will probably be going back for more. There was quite a big range of colours. Agree socks are great to knit. Such a small project you can take it with you and just knit a couple of rounds when you have a minute.2025's challenges: 1) To fill our 10 Savings Pots to their healthiest level ever

I love Regia too. I'm using this colour at the moment to knit a pair of socks for myself - a rare treat because normally I knit them for other people
the colours in this particular sock yarn are fabulous. Opal is also very nice and I've also used Fortissimo and it was lovely.
A sock is just so much more portable than a jumper or other big item, and because they're knit on tiny DPNs you don't risk stabbing whoever is sitting beside you :rotfl:0 -
I've just knitted this up and am having trouble understanding the sewing up bit to make square sleeves. Can anyone explain what I need to do?

lynseydee re; sewing in sleeves. Sew shoulder seams then sew cast off edges of sleeves to straight edge of armhole. Where you cast off 7 stitches on the front and back, this should fit from where you placed the markers near the top of sleeves. Sew both of them, then sew the sleeve seam. I hope this makes sense! Let us know if you finish it, it's a nice pattern.0

Thanks Kinsey, I haven't placed the markers yet but obviously that will help when I do. I just need to get my head around what you have now said as I have my fuzzy head on today :rotfl:
It's not a case of if I finish it, I have to, as it's a birthday present for my niece who's 1 in two weeks :eek:Did owe £9,951.96

Hi all,I have been knitting for years even when kids were small.
My Grandma showed me for which I'm eternally grateful.
I still get stuck but have two elderly aunties that i can call on.
I do tend to knit easy baby knits ,the odd boys jumper.
But for the first time in 15 years knitting hubby an aran jumper in fisherman's rib as he doesnt like cable or Patten's on jumpers.
I have had a grandson born this year so really enjoyed looking at some of the new pattens that are out now.

I haven't done any knitting for years and just found out my sons lovely girlfriend is pregnant and as she is a make do and mend type of person I thought I would start knitting for the baby. Can anyone point me in the right direction as regards buying wool and patterns, are there any online free ones available... I live in London and to be honest don't even know a shop that sells wool anymore.. I have lots of needles from my long ago knitting days when my first grandchild was born 22 yrs ago.. he's now a strapping 6' 3" lol.... its going to seem odd having a teeny tiny baby around again...
I was going to wade through the thread but its soooooo long... anyway thanks in advance..#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

John Lewis on Oxford st have a great haberdashery department, that's where I get all of mine. Look out for their sales in particular. Also Liberty's near Regent St although I find them to be slightly pricier with a smaller range.
There are lots of online places to get patterns, try www.knitfinder.com www.knitty.com or www.ravelry.com0
