I'm sure she'll be a great teacher! There's lots of info and video tutorials online (and patterns for when you are ready for shaping and so on!). Just google a sentence, say ' how to purl', for example, and something will come up. When you've mastered the knitting, you can learn crochet, too! If you would care to join the charity knitting thread on here - now in its second year - you are more than welcome. http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1384709 There's lots of info there, too.KNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:

Hi I too love to knit and also hate the sewing up part, so good to know I am not alone in this.:) Kemps are so good to buy from. I find such bargains compared to my local wool shop. I also use bamboo knitting needles for the past two years as I have arthritis and find these much better to use. I also like the wool etc. from www.clickityclack.com also very good customer service. I am at present knitting myself a lovely green cardigan, and am going to knit another chunkier one as soon as I am finished. Have been knitting some baby blankets too for expectant friends. I find it very relaxing in the evenings to get out my knitting:)Do a little kindness every day.;)0

This is one of my favourites; but not easy, I made this but used 2 hooks on the front to fasten instead of the tie, as I don’t need any more lumpy bits on my front l-o-l
It’s in sizes Chest: 33[37, 40, 44, 48, 51, 55]

Another fave this is what it looks like, as there’s no pic on the pdf, you’d have to enlarge it to see it properly though

my problem is that i would love to knit a short sleev jumper but dont want to but anymore wool. i already have a big stash of the £1 chenille stuff bought in poundland and also have some really basic run of the mill double knitting wool, the cheap and cheerful stuff. am worried that if i use it to kni up one of these nice patterns the wool will let me down and look yuck, this one i just spotted looks ideal for my basic dk and could even maybe use a couple of my fun fur balls to do the top bit with.... what do you think?

You could either do a square and keep knitting until it's a scarf (probably just about everyone starts like this, and gets that lovely "I did it!" feeling!) or get your friend to show you how to change yarn and do the ends in funky fur or similar and the main part of the scarf in something plain. www.knittingpatterncentral.com has loads of free patterns but I have never looked at the scarves - might be worth a look. Good luck and keep us posted.0 -
well i got my click wool from readicut - the chunky is out of stock as is the knitting caddy which is a shame. Oh well - saved me some cash i suppose....:rotfl:five children? I must be mad........ :rotfl:

Could anyone give me any tips on "how to join seams neatly" please!
I like knitting but hate sewing up afterwards as it never looks quite right, what stitch is best etc
thanks
I have also always hated sewing up - but just recently have started to join seams using a crochet hook and yarn and slip-stitching the two pieces together. It gives a really strong and stable seam and it looks neater on the inside too. Some people hear voices, some see invisible people. Others have no imagination whatsoever
