Hello
Please can someone explain this to me? I am fairly new to knitting and crochet and it's a slow job to learnor maybe I'm just slow
I want to make a blanket out of crochet squares, but the pattern keeps saying 2trtog or 3trtog. I can do 2 double crochets together to decrease. Are 2trtog and 3trtog a similar concept? Or do I somehow have to pick up 3 stitches and do a treble (mind boggling! ) in the same way that in knitting you would knit 2 together?
I've tried googling and youtube to find instructions but have drawn a blank, but then it dawned on me that maybe some talented person on here could enlighten me!
Thank you in advance.
Mods, if this post is in the wrong place please can you move it for me to the correct place? Thank you.Aspire not to have more but to be more.

Hi Smiley - don't panic, between us all we can sort anything! I think you are correct in your thinking the "together" part is the key whether its on dc, or tr. It would help to clarify if you could either link to the pattern or tell us a little bit of the pattern so we can put the instruction into context.
cheers

English terms and American terms for crochet stitches are different but if you are using an English pattern to treble 2 tog you would omit the last bit of one treble leaving two loops on the hook then do another treble omitting the last part then yarn over and complete the two stitches together ............hope that makes sense. You would use this to decrease or to make a cluster.0 -
Hi all, havent been here for a good while but have been busy lol. So far have knitted 2 fluffy scarves as christmas pressies for DD2 and DD3's teachers (they are still in primary school so only have one teacher each!). Have started a jumper for my best friend. DD1 (well SD) has asked to make one for her mum so have to get some wool for her. And have plans for a load of stocking fillers as well! So busy busy busy here right now lol

Hello
I was lucky enough to find loads of old, unused balls of wool at a charity shop. However, they have that old, dusty smell.
Do any of you know how I can wash or get rid of the smell before I knit with it? I have a whole roll of lace ribbon as well which smells just as bad!
Thanks for your help0 -

Hi Red Balloon
I found quite a nice free pattern as I too have been looking for patterns for this wool as there was only one pattern I liked that came free with the wool when I bought it. I will post a link to it when I get home from work.
I'm hoping it will knit up ok.Did owe £9,951.96

This is the pattern I have found. I have noticed that it is 22 sts and 42 rows so maybe someone could say whether this pattern would be ok for this wool as it is the same wool I have and was going to use.

tomatoplant - I was given a sack of wool by an old lady recently and that smelt musty. I left some of it out in the open for a while in an airy room and the smell disappeared, you could try that before going to the trouble of washing it.
