Hi wonder if anyone can help me.

I have been looking for decently priced (i.e. cheap) knitting wool for lace knitting (2 ply or similar, for wedding ring shawls) and wonder if anyone can recommend any good online shops (all the 'real' shops in my area have either shut or are far too expensive). The lace yarn I have seen sells online at about £30 per cop, which is a bit steep for me.

Many thanks for any assistance.

I wondered if this site would be of interest?

Especially for lace knitters, this Australian pure Merino wool has been spun in Italy to be an ultra fine 2 ply equalling 375m per 25gm (this makes it slightly finer than the Shetland 1 ply Cobweb). Merino is noted for its very soft handle and because of the wool's long staple, can be spun very finely into a high quality lace weight yarn which blocks extremely well (hand wash only!).
We offer this yarn in 39 gorgeous colours and supply it pre-wound by us into approx. 25 gm balls ~ £2.80 per 25gm.

Hi Everyone
Peru yarn from Readicut came yesterday. I got 2 packs of it in a purply colour and 2 x 2 free patterns - both the same! But at least I didn't get any rubbish substitutions and it came pretty quickly.

Hi Maytaurus.

Thanks for the link - I have already been there and was hoping if there was anywhere any cheaper than that :o Wedding ring shawls take quite a lot of wool (and time). Many moons ago (i.e. before I had kids) I used to knit them and it would take ages. My eldest has a shawl I knitted which took 8 weeks - I was recovering from an operation at the time and was knitting for at least 6 hours a day (phew). Amazing the things you can do when you don't have the kids to keep you busy ;)
SMILE....they will wonder what you are up to...........;)

Hellooooo ladies, long time no see.

I'm back, looking for help (now there's a surprise!)

I'm am trying, without much success, to find a pattern to knit both Canadian and Scottish flags - to put on either a cushion or as a keyring sort of thing.

Can anyone help me with this? I'm sure it's relatively easy to suss out the pattern (for the Saltire anyhow) but I'm not capable and need to follow one already written out!!

I stopped knitting and mainly crochet Amigurumis now but I got problems finding the colours I'm after. Does anyone know of a internet shop that sells fairly cheap DK yarn. I want bright colourful yellow, orange, turquoise..etc. I've had a look on the sites that has been mentioned here but I get lost in all the strange names and differences of wool. I've tried Shaws (but they mainly got pastel colours) and ebay prices are silly after putting the p&p on top
