Hi everyone! Hope you're having a nice, relaxing Sunday!
First attempt at following a pattern, and I've already come unstuck just 3 rows in!
Pattern calls for 103 stitches, which is for the smallest size baby cardi. Instructions now read as:
'For first and third sizes only: k2tog at center of the next row only.'
I can't figure out why I need to do this, but I trust the pattern!!! However, what I can't fathom is whether I need to knit together stitches 50 and 51 or knit together 51 and 52. Am I being a complete idiot??

Hi Aeshna, decreasing this stitch will just be to get the correct number for decreasing at the armholes, For example if you have odd number of stitches now it will give you an even number IFYSWIM .Doesnt really matter which number ie:51 52 or 50 51 so long as its roughly in the middle.Feeding 6 Adults 1 Teen a 8 year old with hollow legs and a very fussy 5 year old. Also 3 cats and 3 fishies

WRT k2tog on first and third sizes only, I'd guess that this is so that you get the right number of stitches for the remainder of the pattern.
It really won't matter whether you knit 50+51 or 51+52 in that case - it would only matter if it was part of a design (such as a cable).0 -

Hi all, I am just about to start learning how to knit, I have done a little bit in the past. fancied doing socks and slippers as they would be nice gifts and I might even make a little oney at christmas maybe, anyway I went onto the Patons website and saw the booklet 'Next steps four socks and slipper' would love to buy it but the site is Uk friendly and I am finding it really hard to find a Uk website that would sell this pattern. Does anyone have any ideas. HELp0

Miss Kool and Catwoman Kent, you obviously get the Lets Knit magazine. I thought about getting this after a friend gave me her copy but we both nearly had to be picked up off the floor when we saw how much it cost a month (she didn't realise the cost til she got to the checkout). I see they have a website and their subscription takes about £1.00 off a copy but they are also doing 3 copies for £3.00. It says after the price something about the money being taken quarterly (now just looked at their website to double check the details and it's now gone up to £11.25  ).
I guess what I now need to ask is, is it worth subscribing to, money wise I mean, or am I better off just buying patterns as and when I want them? I do want to try and knit more and am just about to start my next project (hubby picked wool up from Post Office today).
I've got the 3 issues for £3 subscription and my intention was to cancel after these three issues were received. With the £11.25 subscription it works out at £3.75 per month instead of the £4.99 cover price. At the moment I'm really happy with the pattens which are included and think it is worth the price but I intend to cancel as soon as this changes.0
