  • Bikerchick - great idea for using the two lots together to get the subtle stripe effect, love that and would never have thought of it! Given that it's very simple pattern (mainly stocking stitch) that will really lift it. Thanks again.
  • Just had some gorgeous chunky delivered from Kemps Wool. Lovely Inca. Cannot wait to knit with it. Have 3 commissions to finish first though :(.

Catwoman you are lucky . I live in West London where the snow was only about 1 1/2 inches and our postpeople couldnt be bothered to come out.Even though the weather was that ok I just got my boots on and walked a few times for errands.I am expecting about 4 parcels on top of usual post which we normally get about 5 letters a day - some of which is wool which I could have been knitting things with yesterday :( I suppose when it comes it will be like Santas box @ Xmas with about 50 letters or so..

Did you not have any odds and ends you could have knit with. I tend to knit kids hats or mittens if I run out of wool. Putting them away to sell at a boot fair next Autumn. Hopefully to pay for next winter's knitting.

Catwoman I can't knit yet and I am a beginner so have to wait til I can use wool. I have tried to learn form books and the net but it doesnt seem to be working. My point was rather that the post didnt come out. Odd cos in Kent I believe it has been much worse. I went out today and the roads and paths were clear and it is melting all the time.I think I was stunned to see Kent postoes with a work ethic that out Middlesex ones don't seem to have,.

Jean Greenhowe does a lovely fireman pattern here. You could either buy it from ebay or check out the "where to buy" on her website.
