Hi, been reading the thread for a while now. I used to knit loads, try to get back into it and then it goes by the wayside again.
My daughter wants a scarf like her friends. I can't find one anywhere so thought I would knit one. Not sure what you call them either! It is like a big circle about 12 inches wide and goes over the head. Can anyone help me?
    Thanks in advance. Taffy

anyone got advice on how to track down a specific dye lot? I bought some Debbie Bliss Cathay in a sale last year, also bought on ebay some of the same shade. Thought I'd be OK but the side by side comparison shows up the different dye lots. Any advice much appreciated.

More on the Angel Yarns saga - I wrote to Sirdar (who supplied Angel Yarns) to advise that I've now got Trading Standards on the case and Sirdar replied that they are no longer stocking Angel Yarns. So ..... if you're on their website and decide to buy anything Sirdar from them - don't! They definitely don't have it in stock and like me, you'll be waiting. And waiting. And waiting.
You could try knitting with both dye lots. Use one ball of each and knit two rows from each ball, so it's kind of a subtle stripe effect. I used to do this on the knitting machine many years ago.

It sounds like a snood...a wide tube that goes over the head and you can pull it up like a hood... Im doing this one for my niece ....when I can find the right wool

I have had a look at this pattern and think it is easy enough for me to follow. I'm not too offay (sp?) with different types of wool apart from 4 ply and DK so would I be able to knit this pattern in say an aran wool? Or any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Is anyone able to help me with a wool type? Now that I have finished the cardigan I was knitting I'm itching to do something else :j

From the needle size and number of stiches I would say it is a chunky wool.

Thank you always harassed, that is exactly what my MIL said, although we decided if I was to knit it in an aran to just do the next size up.

I am going to see if I can get some nice cheap wool tomorrow failing which I have found some at Kemps Wool Shop online which with postage would make the whole garment less than £14.00  MIL and I reckoned you would probably pay around £30.00 for it in the shops.

    Hello!
I'm after some help from some knowledgeable knitters please - I'm having a duh moment.
I'm knitting a jumper in st st and have nearly got to the bit where it says "ending with a WS row". I know this means wrong side, but does that mean finish when the bumpy side is facing you or facing out? I would refer to them as knit or purl row but that has confused me sometimes...
Is there any hope for me?
My usual MSE "home" is the knit-your-square thread - squares and basic shaping is about all I've ever done before and want to prove DH wrong by making him a lovely jumper.
Hope someone can help - thanks for reading

    Hi K2

If you're doing stocking stitch (1 row plain, 1 row purl) the wrong side is when you have just finished a purl row.

    Chris :hello:
