I would have to unpick it but Like mardatha would swear a lot.
I have tried in the past to leave an error in a complicated piece and have seen my self unstich and reknit the offending bit eventually, I know that i mayas well do it sooner rather than later then at least i dont have to un stich the made up garment as well.0 -
Please can anyone tell me if i can use DK wool for an aran pattern. The patttern is too big for my daughter and i thought if i used some DK i have on a smaller size needle it would gauge down to the correct size. The wool was expensive so i don't want to waste it. Any advice greatly appreciated. Thankyou.Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but by the moments that take our breath away. – Hilary Cooper

I've had to ask americans a few times for translations yes ! There's one abbreviation, its for something simple like sl 1, k1, passo - but the way they print is is very different and muddled me up.

You can, and it will make a smaller garment. I wouldn't like to say how much smaller, though
I'll add this to the main Knitter's Thread laterYou might like to take a look there and see if you can find an answer to your question.

I'd do a sample square and see how that matches up with what the pattern says your gauge should be. If it's alot smaller use bigger needles.GC - Oct £36.17/£31

If you do a gauge/tension square and count how many stitches you are doing to the inch/cm then look at the pattern and see how many stitiches you are using for the main body of the garment you will see how big a DK version will work out.
The main problem may be that the row gauge will be different too, so you might find that armhole shapings end up too small. Keep an eye on the depth as you knit0 -
Oh Rufusdog, those dolls are brilliant. Have you used a pattern or made them up yourself? The second picture looks just like my sil!

I just noticed I made a mistake about 10cm down in a fairly fiddly aran knit.. I knitted across part of a cable on the reverse side instead of purl.. easily done as just about no 2 rows are the same .. the repeat is over 28 rows and it's more than a repeat away. I have decided just to leave it at it gives it a bit of 'hand-jnitted' authenticity in my book lol .. just wondered what the rest of you would do ? Are you all perfectionists ?
Actually it'd be pretty hard to frog successfully given the pattern.. so wasn't a hard decision for me !
Ah crumbs my bette noir! I would have to unpick and re-knit the offending part, even if no one else could see it - I would know it was there.
