I know there are so sceptics out there who don't believe in all this Feng Shui stuff. I know that you're out there so please don't tell me I'm stupid - again ( I hope this doesn't sound too defensive but I just want to save unecessary post LOL!)

Anyway I was googling some websites about Feng Shui, and one of them was advising to put a pot of change in the wealth corner of one room. Well in that position, I've got a money plant in my kitchen, a baby money plant in my living room (and I'm still skint!!) so I was left with my bedroom (DD has got a collection of stuffed toys and a -real- cat sleeping in her room's wealth corner. So I put a pot full of 20 pence coins (which I'd collected over the last few weeks) and:

2 days ago I was offered a job in January (as I'm a freelance teacher doing short courses this is great news - if enough students enrol!)
I received a Christmas card with some money in it today! (the card was gorgeous too!)

Well, to balance it out, I had a big bill to pay yesterday LOL! you win some, you lose some I suppose!!!

But that takes away our fun :D

Actually, this has been an interesting thread. I have noticed how people have attributed any good fortune they’ve had to their money plants or Buddhas, but when the bad luck has been reported it has been glossed over.

This is a classic case of Confirmation Bias.

It’s how many things, Feng Shui included, can appear to work.

    Like I said, interesting.

  • I believe that what goes around comes around. Two weeks ago I mistakenly received change for £20 when I had only given £5. I told the young man and naturally he was highly delighted. I forgot about it. Three days ago my OH came home to say that he was getting an completely unexpected bonus, enough to buy a car.

I am a feng shuier and I also believe that our energies interact with each other on an invisible layer. It isn`t about trying too hard but about being open to the energy flow and not blocking it.

John, I am so sorry to spoil your fun. Well, since it's the season of good will and all that, go ahead have fun LOL!

Kittie, I agree that what goes around comes around. Sometimes it takes a long time though! I'm actually finding out at the moment that some things in my life are getting sorted out, some relationships with people. I've had to bide my time. 6 years it's taken so far and times are only starting to be more peaceful. It's been worth it and I'd like to think it's because of my behaviour, because I try to be fair, understanding and patient... And I'm no angel lol! I'll never know...

What do people think of this: I discovered that there is a money plant in a corner of my office building. If I take a couple of leaves to plant in a pot at home, does it count as stealing (thus reducing my goodwill in the Universe, Karma etc) or does it count as spreading the plant and the good fortune (since it won't hurt the plant and it will give me a new plant and hopefully new prosperity)? Thanks in advance for your ideas!

    Ciao all

I would "ask" someone if it is ok to take a small cutting.

Even if they have nothing to do with it officially - you will feel that you have been "given"it.

There you go Shez. You obviously deserve your bad luck because of something bad you did. :(

Of course, this way of thinking might just be a bit silly, but who am I to say?
  • It is about being flexible and being open to taking responsibility for what comes your way. We all have twists and turns on our journey through life and these are times when we have to make decisions which affect our future path. Many people lean heavily on others beit the state or anything else and they get their feet stuck in concrete. We all know people who blame anyone else for their troubles. We MAKE OUR OWN LUCK.

Having troubles can be life-changing. It is perfectly ok and natural to have a moan and moments of feeing sorry for yourself but at some point people have to pull themselves out of the pit they have fallen into otherwise the pit starts to feel like concrete. This site is an inspiration in doing just that. It is full of people who have climbed out and got their lives moving again. Troubles are not always bad
  • hello again John - and the many joys of the season to you :xmassmile

I think that if things aren't going to plan, like for Shez, the best advice would be to re-do the feng shui ideas in the house, no need for any expense, just clear clutter again, as well as throwing out the rubbish make sure that you give somethings away - be sure that the stuff you take to the charity shop is a genuine gift from your heart to make something better for someone else and the kindness will come back to you in another form at a later date.

As well as getting rid of rubbish, giving things away that you no longer need or want you should then think of turning other things that you don't want any more into cash, like by selling on ebay or amazon (there's a 'how to get started' manual and discussion thread here on the the ebay board) and you might just surprise yourself with the value of things in your home that you don't want by someone else does.

After the de-cluttering, heartfelt giving and turning your unloved items into cash then I'd just enhance the wealth sections of the rooms with something red, some coins and of course a rounded leaved healthy green plant, a jade one maybe?

I also think that if things seem to be going downhill then you need to just stop for a minute and take stock and think of all the things that you've achieved recently, maybe you've learned something, enjoyed reading something, had great fun times with the family, you may have heard that someone else had good news and you felt great for them......they all add up to make your life richer, maybe not in monetary terms but richer non the less.
