i believe that you can only let so much into your life and if you've got the path to your soul cluttered by crap you're not going to be able to let in a lot of really nice and good things... cuz there's no room for them in your life!
i do a good clean out of the place at least every other month... it helps keep things on an even keel
This exactly the way I feel. It's good for the soul to de-clutter. I use freecycle also (Toonfreecycle as I live in N/cle). I have got rid of a lot of stuff which I didn't need but was still good enough to be used. I also re-use and recycle everything I can. We should do more to protect our planet. We as a specie waste to much of our resources.
I also don't understand how stuff can bring happiness. But some people do look for peace and happiness through that. For me, it's not what it about0 -

another great thing about freecycle is that people will take what charity shops can't or won't sell
charity shops can't sell kids toys without some specific label on them (safety thing) even though the toys may be perfectly safe
they also can't sell any furniture without some sort of fire safety thing on it again, the furniture may be fine and this stuff is old, more than 20 years since they started labeling them this way so if it hasn't spontaneously combusted by now it's probably fine :rotfl:
and then there's the stuff that charity shops don't have room for
also some can't sell electrical stuff and many people on freecycle are willing to take things that need to be mended...
surely giving away to others has to bring positive energy into the home it certainly always has for me
for example.
i've just given away a huge amount of things on freecycle
hadn't seen anything i needed or wanted
went to asda the other night specifically to buy a childs booster seat. we don't drive but mil is coming to pick us up to take us to her home (about 50 miles from us) for the holidays. well, needed to get a booster seat for my 4 year old dd so i went to the exact same asda where we've bought her baby stuff. they don't sell that kind of thing anymore! they did up until a few months ago appearantly! i was miffed
came home that very night and what should i see up for grabs on freecycle? yep, you guessed it, a booster seat! it's a bit tatty but still functional and for the few times we'll use it perfect for our needs
that has saved me about £30! i kinda see it as getting a 'reward' rather quickly for giving away so many things recently... i'm just glad i was too tired to go elsewhere that night to look for one :rolleyes:founder of Frugal Genius UK (Yahoo Groups)0 -
There is a theory that if you give something away, either cash or something else - and if it's done with a generous heart - a vacuum will be made in your life and nature can't abide a vacuum (a spare piece of ground will always start to grow) so something unexpected will just arrive out of the blue to fill it.

Viz, I bought a book when I was in America, it also has uk price on the back so assume you could order it here. It is by Angi Ma Wong and is called Feng Shui Dos and Taboos for Health & Wellbeing. There were other ones in the series about love and wealth. It is a lovely little book about 4 inches square and has a different tip on every page about all different sections of the house. The uk price is showing as £6.99 and she has a website https://www.FengShuiLady.com Hope this helps.0
