One day I looked at my desk at work and it was such a mess that it was stopping me from concentrating properly. So I spent a whole morning cleaning it out, including about 45 minutes removing each key from the keyboard anc cleaning it.
Then, I was ready to get on with some work.
    Happy chappy

As I do a lot of work at home, in a small flat, I regularly feel the same about my table. It's such a wonderful feeling to have packed away all the papers, cleaned the table and put a nice vase on it. Although I've never spent 45 minutes removing the keys of my keyboard. Well, I have a laptop. I don't even know if the keys can be removed!!

If anyone is interested in 'spells' as I see a lot of you are, you can chat to me. A practicing 'spell-maker' for many years :A and that's all i'm saying :A apart from the fact that there is a little magick in all of us, you just have to reach down inside yourself to see it and use it to help you make the best of life :D

i'm pagan, have been for 12 years now. i see 'spells' as prayers with stuff :p

it's a matter of focusing postive energy on achieving a goal, very much like a prayer! you ask the divine (whatever you choose to call it) for help with achieving those goals and you use stuff as sympathetic magik sympathetic simply meaning using one thing to represent another

just as in feng shui you use the plant and the coins to represent wealth you may use rice or corn or coins in a 'spell' as these are all associated with abundance and wealth

anyone concerned about doing 'magic' really shouldn't worry... there's nothing evil about it, i mean the catholic church is chock full of sympathetic magik of it's sort the candles, the communion wafers, the statues of Mary, Jesus etc etc they just like their stuff with their prayers more than other churches, that's all! (actually they're my favourite flavour of christian :p )

please don't get angry if you're a christian this is meant lightheartedly and is indeed just my take on things

I have now moved mine from the bathroom into the living room - although it was growing ok in the bathroom, but the leaves were turning slightly light green/yellow instead of the dark green.
Just have to get red ribbon and coins.

Thanks elona for the spell, shall let you know how i get on.

you may be watering it too much if the leaves are turning yellow... at least that's a normal sign of that with non succulent plants

After DD's stencil making session at the weekend, my flat could do with a good de-clutter as my path through the living room is not easy this morning! I shall introduce her to the wonders of Feng Shui when she comes back from school I think!

I have been toying with the idea of feng shu-ing my house but have never seemed to get around to it. Your posts have spurred me into action! The way I figured it is that if it's been used for thousands of years by thousands of people it can't be all wrong.

actually, we live in family flats for the uni of edinburgh. we have LOADS of chinese families here and i don't care how old their kids are their flats are always sparkling... wonder if feng shui has anything to do with it?

Totally agree with you! A good de-cluttering always makes me feel better. I feel things and possession that I don't use/ need burden me.

definately! i belong to my local freecycle ( http://www.freecycle.org ) as a moderator, i feel so strongly about not only clearing away clutter but also reuse and recycling

i believe that you can only let so much into your life and if you've got the path to your soul cluttered by crap you're not going to be able to let in a lot of really nice and good things... cuz there's no room for them in your life!

i do a good clean out of the place at least every other month... it helps keep things on an even keel

I was only thinking about a money plant this morning and this afternoon I had 8 months of gas discounted. I think a saving of approx £200. Makes you think

I did a 12 week course of nightclasses on feng shui. Very interesting it was. I have a new house painted all over in a bland cream, including the doors so it was feeling lifeless. I put the right colours in the right places, particularly in my living room and added some spiky things and objects, drawing energy upwards and lo and behold my room is fab now. I doubt I would have got it right without feng shui because I`m not arty at all. The room is zingy but relaxing and energy is now flowing. The spiky things have helped to take away the feeling of stagnation

The above comments on de-cluttering are spot-on
