I think that Feng Shui is helping our finances...am I nuts?

Thank you everyone for the info on chimes. I have 2. One at my kitchen window for the absolute pleasure of listening to it when the wind is blowing as it is today in sunny Newcastle!
The other one is in my entrance hall and I could vaguely remember I'd put it there for some Feng Shui reason but couldn't remember why! (I know, I know I'm so silly!!!!!).
Shez, is there anyway that you can change the position of your chair. I really think you shouldn't have your back to the door. I think there is also an issue over not enough chi in an impersonal environment so if your office is impersonal you need to personalise you space with photographs, ornaments and perhaps a bunch of flowers/ a plant.
Now, Shez I'm not an expert. It's what my book says about office environment! Or rather my understanding of it0 -
Actually, chair positioning NOT back to the door isn't just feng shui it's basic good practice. Nobody likes working, especially concentrating hard, if someone can come up behind them. Some portion of your brain is always being used to keep a check on what's going on behind you and a lot of people feel downright uncomfortable with their back to a door.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. I have several desks which do a "U" shape, so I can sit and face the door, its just when I have to work on the computer - its then my back is to the door - so when not on the computer I shall have to remember to turn round!!!
Yep, I can get pictures and money plant on the desk, just have to find out where to put them - maybe if I get one big enough it might prompt my boss to ask me why, and then I can say to prompt my long overdue pay increase!! ha ha
if I start wearing red ribbons in my hair do you think that might make my boss like me more?? ha ha ha:D0 -
Shez, I have just looked through a library book 'Feng Shui in 10 easy lessons' - it says that if you can't see people approaching you then to put a mirror on your desk. The money plant is good, is there space on the southeast corner of your desk for it? not too sure about wearing the red ribbons tho....bit Judy Garland I think0

Judy Garland - I like that!! ha ha - I do find when I'm at work I want to click my heels 3 times saying "theres no place like home" ! (sorry) and I do feel abit like dorothy - shaking in fear when I approach the boss for a payrise!! :eek:0

“Traditional Feng Shui mirror's octagonal shape reflects the eight Feng Shui directions.”
http://www.crystalsdirect.co.uk/mirror.html
“Oval mirrors are best…..Mirrors used as remidies[sic] should be small and discreet.”
http://www.paralumun.com/fengmirror.htm
“Let me clarify, while mirrors might be recommended as a visual change, they are not a remedy against bad chi…..If you are looking for a Feng Shui practitioner, be wary of those who prescribe mirrors as a solution to your Feng Shui woes.”
http://www.168fengshui.com/Articles/Article_Mirrors.html
“Another use a feng shui mirror can have is when your bedroom or any other room in which you need to be relaxed is placed above somewhere with machines or a garage. In these cases, placing a mirror on the floor and facing down wouldn't let the machines energy and the disturbances have a bad effect on you.”
http://www.fengshuicrazy.com/misc-feng-shui-topics/feng-shui-mirror.php
“The whole point of mirrors are to reflect an image. The bedroom is not a place to reflect an image because it has low energy and you do not want to double the image.”

Nice try John
- these may appear to contradict each other but they don't - the second one for example - the suggested mirror for Shez isn't a remedy against bad chi - it's a remedy for not being able to see who's behind you, the third one is saying to put the mirror on the floor face down to deflect the effects of machinery in the room below, so it doesn't contradict the last piece about having a mirror in the bedroom.
Nice to that you're taking an interest in the subject though :j and thank for taking the trouble to find all these useful websites, that's very kind of you to help us all in our quest for enlightenment.:D0 -
John dear,
You have tried very hard but...... perhaps now it is time to accept defeat...
And go to Ikea and buy a money plant :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -

Just pick and choose, mix and match, and believe anything that takes your fancy. Contradictions can be ignored too. Great stuff
As for money/pay rises etc:
Imagine a boss who has one worker who is a rational, reliable person who comes up with practical, common sense answers to problems and another one who's placing mirrors, money plants etc. around the place or moving furniture and fittings around so that the flow of "chi" and "positive energy" is in the right direction...
When promotion time comes around, guess who'll get promoted?
If you’re after “enlightenment”, think of the damage to personal credibility that these beliefs cause.0 -
John, I can't think that there are many femail office workers who don't have a mirror (girly lipstick and stuff) and plant on their desk - nothing unusual there, not at all flaky!0
