I'm too sophisticated to be taken in by that nonsense.

I'll stick to my Feng Shui underpants, thank you very much. :D

    Think I'm being silly?

If you’re after “enlightenment”, think of the damage to personal credibility that these beliefs cause.

Just wondering if the same applies if I wear a cross and have a religious reading on my desk from the bible??!! or is just things related to feng shui....?!

"Mainstream" religious beliefs tend to be more generally accepted by people in general than things like feng shui or religions/faiths/belief systems like Wicca (rightly or wrongly). Personally, I do often find people less credible as a result of their religious beliefs (whether "mainstream" or otherwise), but even more so if they believe in something likely to make an appearance in the Guardian's "Bad Science" column (not necessarily religious. Admirers of Gillian McKeith also have lower credibility in my eyes).

I stand against irrational thinking in all its forms; and that includes religion.

It’s irrational thinking and the willingness to accept anything that can be harmful in many ways. The acceptance of one form of nonsense, such as Feng Shui, indicates someone who will accept other forms of nonsense too. Ultimately, that can be harmful. There are plenty of people out there eager to scam us, for example. Being aware of what is real and what is bogus is one line of defence.

    See: What's the harm?

I think that the whole ethos of Martin Lewis’s work is to help people become informed consumers (I think he uses the term “savvy consumers”). That’s all about knowledge and understanding of what we’re doing and improving our decision making processes.

Financial well-being is about understanding and controlling our money: not about burying it under a money tree.

Sorry to go on like a teacher, but I have a reputation for pontificating. cool.gifgrin.gif

    That’s my style, so: tongue.gif

If you don't want to do anything related to feng shui that is fine, totally your decision. Just like it is up to everyone else to decide whether or not to put into practice any of the things mentioned. It doesn't bother me in the slightest that you judge me "less credible" as we are all entitled to our opinions, whether right or wrong. Please forgive me in advance if I later quote hints and tips from my feng shui library book as I believe other people participating in this thread will be pleased to receive them.

oops - sorry didn't mean to open a can of worms?! I was just wondering, as I love to see the different opinions and views, especially those who are similar or dis-similar to mine (if that makes sense!) Thanks crana999 for replying though with your views though, I do find them interesting even if I don't generally agree with them, but that's what these forums are for, to get a balanced idea made from differing view points??!!

    waffle over!!
