Thanks so much scatty. I had a feeling a lot of that would ring true with you and others. When I was younger I also said "I'll never say/do THAT when I'm older!" All too often I hear the familiar words or see actions of my Mum and - yes - I'm very proud to be using them and to be like her too.
I'm so pleased you mentioned about your dear Mum's memory as we have a neighbour in her 70s who's had cancer and since the chemo and radiotherapy she seems to be 'losing' things at times, though not always. Some times she seems fine, but then she'll come out with something totally strange or have a bad day mentally and her poor hubby looks so lost at us. We wondered if it was to do with the treatment and it sounds as though it could well be. Maybe it'll pass off, I do hope so.

Maybe her husband could mention it to her specialist as mam started this a while before she had her big episode that landed her in hospital. It was a water infection combined with the chemo which was proving too be too strong for her this time. We thought it was just her age but I can see now how it gradually started since her illness.0

P.S. Found a kilner jar for £2 in Wilkinsons and am about to start mam's memory jar for sunday. Will post a photo later on in the week of it if I can figure out how.0

A very good idea scattymam, thanks for that, she goes early next month for a bi-annual check so I'll certainly mention it to him. If it is all due to the illness and treatment it would at least help him to know there just maybe a change in her with patience and time.
I was really pleased to see you'd bought the jar which is to become the 'memory jar', something for you to work towards now and get just right. Regards the photo, normally there's an attachment bar for that below the posts, but not here! I'll have a look at what to do with them on here, I know there must be a way as some of the girls were doing it on another board a couple of weeks ago. Fingers crossed!
Thanks so much for the advice scatty, I really appreciate your help. All the best with getting the memory jar just as you want it and just as your mam would love it.

It's a year later and here is my mam's jar I made - the outside is finished but I still have lots of photos and memories to write inside.
Mothers day is approaching so I wanted to get it finished in memory of her - I filled it with memories, photos, the scroll in the second picture is a latter she wrote me as a teenager about how much she wanted to have a baby girl. The large tag book I made has poems and memories written inside too. I could keep adding to this forever. It's nice to have, I like to read my little notes and I'm hoping one day my dd will be able to look at it and read the memories in it too.
I'm glad for the idea of doing this as it just doesn't feel right not doing something for her for mothers day, as I said once before she doesn't stop being my mother just because she died and this is my way of celebrating mothers day with her.

hello, sorry to hear about your mum. For my Dads 50th (he is healthy but i wanted to thank him for being such a great dad to me) i went through all the family photos to find pictures of us together, using photobucket i cropped them, fuzzed edges etc then (not with photobucket) created a photobook (the lovely ones which are often on special offer in the discount code section), i then got a meter of personlised ribbon on with "Thanks for being such a great Dad, Happy 50th" and tied it round it. he loved itBest wins in 2013 £200 and Mini iPad. 2014 no wins. 2015 2 nights 5* hotel with £300 vouchers plus £1150 Harrods gift card

Thanks rusty and vikki- I love it - I can't stop looking at it. My mam would have loved the bling and the flowers were actually from a pack that she had bought as she loved them so much so I had to use them.
I'm actually going to go to church on mothers day too - mam would be proud...and It'll be fun to see whose jaws drop - I haven't been in 10 years. Just the once though for her.0 -
scattymam1 your jar is so pretty and such a lovely idea too. My mum died from cancer almost a year ago too, It seems so strange seeing all the Mothers day cards and gifts for sale but still feeeling like you should be buying them - wanting to do something but knowing the reality.
You have inspired me to do something in her memory. Bless you.0 -
How beautiful, it's just fabulous scattymam1.0
