I like the idea of naming a star as she has told all the grandkids that every time they see a rainbow they have to think of her as that's where she is, just over the rainbow. She also chose somewhere over the rainbow to be read out and played at her funeral. So it's quite nice to think that she's a star just over the rainbow, it'll be nice for the kids to think about when they're older. And to name her after a star would be good for me to remember her by because she is an absolute star.
Unfortunately, mam will not be around for mothers day she entered yesterday what they call the last 72hours. For her sake I hope she is at peace soon. I am still going to make her a memory jar though for mothers day, I love this idea, I will have good memories making it and reading the things we used to do together, maybe put some photos in, and it will be nice to share with my children when they are older.
Thankyou to everyone for your kindness, it has been a great comfort to me.0 -
god bless you and your mum scatty xx0

Oh dear.............I am so sorry to hear that and my thoughts are with you.
I'm pleased you're going ahead with the memory jar idea............it'll give you something to focus on.
After I lost my Dad I started a Memory Box of all the little keepsakes he had (and believe me there were a lot). Some I passed on to my sons but more personal pieces are in his box along with memories of his life............thats something no-one can ever take away from us.
Bless you xMary

My thoughts are with you and your family at this time. When my grandma was in the last few days of her fight against cancer, my mum couldn't really cope. It sounds like you are doing very well, and with the support of others you will get through this.
I was 17 at the time, I knew exactly what was going on but did not prepare myself. My one fantastic memory was taking the dog into the hospice to see her. At that time she could not recognise me (thought I was her cousin Gladys), but the joy on her face was there. We took a photo, which although she looks very poorly in I cherish to this day. Is there anything like this you could do for her?Money, money, money, must be funny....in a rich mans world.

A Vera Lynn CD............We'll Meet Again?
And, no, before the do-gooders jump on this thread because their lives are so empty and they feel they need to be doing something to justify their miserable existences (and you know who you are, don't make me name and shame you), my mum had this played at her funeral. You'll always miss 100% of the shots you don't take - Wayne Gretzky
Any advice that you receive from me is worth exactly what you paid for it. Not a penny more or a penny less.0 -
I've just heard a beautiful piece of music on the radio.........Summer Dream by Sweet People. It was lovely soft music with the sound of birds singing.......so restful. I made a note of it afterwards. It's on an album.Mary
