Yes, I've tried the chocolate, it's very nice. You can buy it at Julian Graves stores, Lakeland and the two web sites mentioned above. No doubt there are other places you can buy it that I'm not aware of ...Wins since 2009 = £17,600MANY THANKS TO ALL OPS0 -
I absolutely hate the taste of UHT milk in tea, couldn't possibly drink a glass of it. When you use it to make yoghurt does it actually end up tasting different to the vile taste many of us associate with it?.
Thanks0 -
It doesn't taste anything like UHT milk, I cant stand it in tea/ coffee either. It just tastes like yoghurt!0

This week I decided to try making yogurt with fresh milk and without the dried milk I usually add. Complete disaster - all thin and grainy. This always happens when I try fresh milk. I've got used to a really thick yogurt. I'm sure this is the dried milk.0 -
Thank you so much Rosy and Thriftlady for prompt response to my very first post. Will buy some UHT tomorrow and try making my yoghurt. There will be a psychological hurdle to cross when I try my first spoonful of it, as the thought of UHT milk does make me heave a bit (I'm trying to tell myself UHT milk is probably used in lots of shop bought products I already eat).
I've also often wondered when I've seen trolleys in front of me at the supermarket laden with UHT milk. Now I know it's probably for yoghurt making.0 -
I dont like UHT milk but have no problem with yoghurt made from it so dont be surprised if you dont like it straightaway. What you may not like is the taste of homemade yoghurt which, in my experience, is a little gustier than shop bought. If you can get your mindset around that you will love it and never go back to the tasteless commercial offering
Dont give up on your first tasting - it took me quite a few attempts before I got the taste for it. Not that different from caviar really! Still trying to acquire a taste for that! It's taking a while as I dont often get to eat it bit I'm working on it!NSD 0/150 -
Will my yoghurt still be thick if I use skimmed milk instead of full fat????

I just got an easiyo fromm a lovely lady on freecylce today. She gave me some sachets which are out of date but I'm giving one a go tonight anyway. My OH and I are microbiologists so we reckon they'll be fine!!
So anyway I've looked thruogh the thread but I can't find why you all seem to use UHT milk, is it because it's sterilised? And why do you add extra milk powder?
I must say that the smell of the powder when i was mixing it up was just like baby milk - and I always hated the smell of that, hope my yoghurt dosent smell like that!Just call me Nodwah the thread killer0 -
