  • Never thought of that!
Well off I go to have another go - hopefully this time I'll get there!
  • I have had the same problem the last few times I have made it. I always add the water before the tub. I wondered if it could be related to the outside temp my kitchen gets cold on a night. Going to have a go at making it during the day see if that makes a difference as I am missing my yogurt. Any other ideas would be welcome.

juststarting - Are you using the sachets or the other method?

also, i think that you're right about the outside temp making a difference, i've found the same thing, when it was very cold it didn't work so well. i think there is some guidance in the leaflet about altering the amount of boiling water in that instance

  • I have been using the sachets, Got a bulk lot with a free maker a while back. I can't find anything about adding extra boiling water I wonder how much more? Also want to have a go at the other method if it's cheaper!

I borrowed my mum's Easiyo maker and made a batch of yogurt using UHT milk, marvel, a wee bit of sugar and Rachel's organic greek style yoghurt as a starter. The results were OK but to be honest, although this was a lot cheaper, I prefer the smoother texture and blander taste of Tesco's own label Greek Style yogurt ( I prefer this to the taste of the Rachel's yougurt too). I'd like to get nearer to the Tesco one's taste. I thought about using the Tesco yoghurt as a starter but it doesn't say on the carton that it's live so I'm guessing it's pasteurised and wouldn't be any use. I'm considering giving the Easiyo sachets of Greek style yoghurt a go- has anyone tried both the Easiyo and the Tesco one and are they like each other or not? ( I think they would be the same price roughly once made up but it looks like there are more good bacteria in the Easiyo one as far as I can make out and it would be handy to have the packs in the cupboard). I don't want to shell out the cost of 6 packets if they taste like the version made with UHT milk, though, I'd be as well continuing with that! Thanks

Thanks so much rach and others on here. Inspired by you all I got an easiyo last weekend and have made at least 1 batch of yoghurt a day using rach's instructions- my ds and two dds eat loads if they can and it has been costing me loads but I want to encourage them still as they don't drink much milk. Anyway it has been great. Thanks:beer:

    Thanks for that.
However please help - what have I done wrong?
The Easiyo came with a yoghurt mix. I followed the instructions, made it at 9.oo last night.
Put it in the fridge this morning at 9.oo and come lunch time it was still runny!
Also one set of instuctions tells you to put the boiling water in the maker before putting the inner one in and another lot of instructions say to put it in after, which one is right?

I have had this problem, Yesterday tried changing the boiling water after about 4-6 hours and found this made the yoghurt set really well and tastes fine, it nice to have my yoghurt back again!

i have an easiyo maker, but don't often use the sachets.

    hope that helps!!

    Rach - you are a star!! :T

Yes - it does help! :D

I bought my Easiyo recently - having coveted one for many years now - I was fearful it may just be a fad and then relagated to the back of my cupboard, and the sachets are fairly expensive  , but I love it, my husband loves it and the children love it.

I bought it because I read here that you can make yogurt using the 'maker' but without using the sachets. I've made up 3 lots of the sachet yogurt - as my lovely mum bought them for me!

My sachet yogurt is almost out now... and just in time - here are your instructions for making your own! Thank you so much.... I'll let you know how I get on

My lot all like Rachels coconut yoghurt so I thought I'd try to make it in the easiyo. I thought I'd use some creamed coconut. Has anyone else tried this?
