Yes, I use it all the time in my bulk yogurt maker (Lakeland) So it should be ok in the Easiyo. I always use the full fat with UHT whole milk plus dried milk and find that I get a lovely thick creamy result. (I also use the tubs as storage too, have quite a collection now
HTH
Many thanks for that. I've got one unopened tub left, so will give it a try. The tubs are brilliant aren't they. I use them for storage too, and also to give out to friends when I make anything, instead of using tupperwares that might not come back. Of course I'll have to find an alternative now, as I've only got a few left, and will want to keep them for my yoghourt making.0 -
I am so ridiculously excited as I found this thread yesterday. I hummed and hawed for a while about how to get yoghurt out of a narrow necked flask until I remembered the kids wide necked food flasks! I have currently got my first batch on the go and can't flipping wait until the morning when I get to try it
. I also have rhubarb ready in the garden so can make up some stewed fruit to mix in with it

Good luck Kaz2904, let us know how it goes.
I'm going to try tomorrow, having bought full fat milk today, and too lazy and hot tonight to be bothered. Will give it a bash tomorrow.0 -

As I usually have 2 tubs in the fridge I also use a sophisticated rotation system of placing a coaster on top of the tub to be used first. Works in our family!:)

Aw. It hasn't done anything.
. I've added more yoghurt and left it again. I hope it does work.

Oh dear Kaz2904, I feel your pain, fingers crossed for you.0

Well, it's got a bit closer to yoghurt but still not there yet. I've emptied it out of the flasks and heated it up to see if that helps. I know it was said that you don't need to heat it if you use UHT milk but there must be something wrong.
Incidentally, I tasted a little of it and it is starting to taste like yoghurt. I just remember my Mum making it when we were little and it was so sour!Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -
Well mine seems to have worked okay. Did it this afternoon, and just checked it just now, seems to be fairly thick. Going to leave it in the flask until the morning though. Haven't tasted it yet.
I did heat up the UHT milk first though, so maybe that has helped.0 -
I drained off the whey this morning, and then put the yoghourt into a container. It is absolutely beautiful, well chuffed. Thank you everyone who gave advice.0

I do mine in a flask and it always comes out great.
I started with Yeo Valley organic yogurt
I use
1/2L value skimmed long life milk
2 teaspoons value powdered milk
2 tablespoons yogurt (either starter or homemade)
I first put the milk in a measuring jug and microwave for 2 minutes (in my microwave it brings the milk to the right temp, you might need more or less)
While the milk is heating I fill the flask with hot tap water or hot kettle water if it is still hot
Then, when the milk is out of the microwave I mix it with the powdered milk and yogurt.
I empty the flask of hot water and add the milk mix.
Close and leave for 10 hours.
When I am ready to put into containers I give the flask a good shake and pour into the tubs.
I have 250ml tubs, so I get two servings and a bit more out of the flask, the extra I get is what I use for the next batch.
I have to say that maybe my flask is better than cheap ones, because the mix comes out still hot after 10 hours, maybe that is why it always works.Life comes with many challenges. The ones that should not scare us are the ones we can take on and take control of.0
