Just thought I would join and add a bit here, after buying my first yogurt maker yesterday. Lakeland are selling the EasiYo on special offer at the moment for only £7.14 so who could resist that?
Anyway, made my first ever batch last night after reading all the tips here and I am now enjoying thick and creamy yogurt for around a third of the shop price, what's not to like
I'm in danger of eating too much today as its delicious. This was my recipe;
1lt Sainsburys UHT Whole Milk
2 tbsp Yeo Valley Natural Yogurt
2 tbsp Sainsbury's skimmed milk powder
1 Sweetex tablet
Stirred all together gently at room temperature, placed into the EasiYo for 12 hours overnight and it has set perfectly and tastes superb. Its not sweet, but the sweetener just adds a subtle richness and to me it tastes the same as the Yeo Valley yogurt it started from.
Thanks guys.

Just to add that I followed advice here and used Greek yogurt as a starter with my Easiyo maker, and it works a treat. The yogurt is very thick and creamy, and of course the whey is wonderful protein to add when bread making or in soups, etc.
Great tip!somewhere between Heaven and Woolworth's0 -

The EasiYo Greek Yogurt with Coconut is to die for! I love that stuff so much!
1 litre UHT milk, of your choice, I use fully skimmed.
1/2 cup of Dried Milk
3 tbs. Easiyo Greek Yoghurt mix (my choice)
Put on kettle to boil.
Put half the milk. powdered milk and easiyo in the litre container put on lid and shake really well, this is important to mix in the dried milk properly, kettle showed have boiled by now, put a cup or two in the flask and put on lid to preheat flask, I have found this really helps.
Pour in the UHT milk to litre mark and shake well to, pour out water of flask and refill to top of red baffler, place in container put on lid and go to bed dreaming of thick creamy yoghurt
Following morning you DON'T have creamy yogurt as it really needs to be refrigerated for at least 3 - 4 hours, sorry, but then you do have yogurt to die for.
If you use a flavoured easiyo sachet it just comes out a milder flavour, if you are on a diet strain the yogurt thro' a coffee filter placed in a colander/sieve over a dish over night and you will have Yochee. A really REALLY thick creamy dish which you can use instead of cream, butter etc. Or make your own soft herb cheese by adding, garlic, herbs, black pepper and a little grated parmesan for a punch, so much cheaper than the ones you buy, and good for youThe why that comes out is really good for you so I use it in my smoothies and my baking.
Price of 1 litre of home made delicious yogurt, if you get your UHT from Lidl's or Aldi's, 49 p per litre, it costs about 70p, worth while making your own!0 -
I have fallen in love with the Easiyo vanilla and bean smoothie but find them a bit too sweet for my liking so I am making my own version using the above recipe but using the smoothie mix the recipe is:
1 litre Lidls UHT milk
1/2 cup dried milk
3 tblesps. Easiyo Smoothie mix
For a late night, breakfast snack I pour it over chopped bananas or blueberries, and slurp umm delicious.0 -
I use the cheapest powdered milk and start off a new batch with some of the old, and occasionally a tablespoonful from a new plain natural yogurt (costing 45p from Lidl) Maybe add flavouring or own fruit.
Total cost 25pence for 1 litre.(6x166)0 -
I don't use Easiyo but find that a couple of spoonful's of dried milk are enough in my home-made yoghurt. Like Ken68, my mix goes on and on. I half a pot of yeo valley and put the rest in the freezer until I think a new batch is required. The beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.
Thanks to everyone who contributes to this wonderful forum. I'm very grateful for the guidance and friendliness that I always receive from you.

i have an easiyo yoghurt maker and have had it for about 4 plus years.
and when i first had, i asked on here about making it myself in the maker, rather than using the sachets.......and i have never been able to achieve a thick, rich yoghurt. i use tablespoons of everything, UHT milk and everything else that everyone recommends but still no luck.
it always turns out as a 'pouring' yoghurt.0 -
I've not been trying for four years (more like four weeks!) but I've had the same problem. I've used UHT and milk powder as well as a generous amount of starter yoghurt and then left it for 12 hours and it's still not thick!
I really don't want to buy the packets but I got the Easiyo to make both Greek-style and pouring yogurt (I use the latter a lot in cooking).
I'm looking forward to reading any tips for getting it to thicken upMFW 2019 #61: £13,936.60/£20,0000
