LOL, I would run as fast as my legs could carry me because it would be completely unreasonable. Thats the point, its ridiculous! I personally don't buy things with inflated p&p charges because, as they say, if you aren't part of the solution...you are part of the problem. So yes, I agree that OP shouldn't have bought the item in the first place but even so, if I choose to sell something then the logistics of that sale eg getting to the post office etc are just that, they arent something to be compensated for via a monetary payment.

I dont buy that much from Ebay any more as dont find it much cheaper than the shops any more due to the postage charges. Most retailers offer P&P free or a fixed amount so it usually works out cheaper.

I dont mind the P&P being out by a £1or so as I know it includes packaging but some sellers do heavily inflate the costs. I dont buy the "petrol, bus" etc either as most sellers will post in batches so the costs arent that great anyway.

I stick to the auctions where postage is reasonable and avoid the others. I also know that Paypal dont refund the postage so would rather have a higher auction price and low p&p in case anything goes wrong.

    Yadda yadda yadda.
Why should we care whether it's fee avoidance? Same old same old.

YOU SHOULD CARE that the more you pay for postage, the more you will be out of pocket if you ever need to return an item. £10 postage? Damaged goods? Kiss goodbye to your £10.
    My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j

Fay, I do not believe that to be the case, if you open a SNAD and Paypal agress with you then you will get the postage back as well, unless you've got a decent seller you are not likely to get your return postage back, but that will be the case irrespective of whether the original postage was 1p or £10.

That's a good point and I never really looked at it like that.

Still to be fair I would never say list something at 99p and put the postage at £30 but I can see where your coming from.

There are a lot of people who sell on ebay as a living. It costs them time and money to go to the post office. If not they would have to increase the resere on the item and pay commission, when infact there is a legitimate way of not paying commission and including these 'reasonable' overheads in the p&p.

Surely the best way of stopping so called excesive charges is to not buy goods from them. If their stuff doesn't sell they might get the message

Exactly! I wouldn't sell like this and wouldn't buy from those that do.The buyers are almost as bad they know that they have won the item very cheap and that the seller has put some of the item cost into the p&p yet they still whinge at the cost, as above its your choice don't buy.
