You paid £9.99 for postage, how much did you pay for the item?

Im imagining its the old fee avoidance trick.

£20 on a £200 item is OK but I bet the OP's camera case was less than the postage charge. Paypal online postage is good as the price of the service is not printed on the label, also couriers as there are never any price details on these.

I sold an item before Christmas for £200 that needed wrapping a lot. It also needed bubblewrap etc. At that time of year I also had to wait in a post office queue for 1/2 hour (with it being Christmas). It cost me £6 to send. I charged £20. Customer was not happy and had a moan. Wanted to know where the £14 went. I explained

    petrol,
wages for waiting in a queue,
    bubblewrap,
    Paper,

I value my time. It doesn't cost nothing to go to the nearest Post Office. Time is money. If it clearly says so in the description you must take that into accopunt when you bid. Customer was still not happy.

So as your running your ebay as a business (paying yourself wages) i assume you're declaring everything to the tax man???

If not then you have no right to charge extortionate postage prices because you've had to stand in a queue for 30 mins. Paper, Bubblewrap and petrol could cost no more than £5 so you're charging £9 for half hours standing....Who do you think you are??

These sort of sellers should at least have the decency to explain that you are planning on charging over the odds for postage.

I totally understand that time is money but as a seller I dont rip my customers off with extortinate prices. Most of the time I dont make any money on my p & p and if I do its pennies.

The case was won for a fiver so i suppose i got it cheap. Still doesnt make over charging fair :(

How was the OP ripped off or had over when the P&P was clearly displayed BEFORE they won or paid for the item?

Sellers list high P&P because they know people will still pay up then whinge later.

As for your suggestion on the spam email - be VERY careful what you wish on other people - it's not difficult for me, or anyone else on here to do the exact same thing to you. yes, it's illegal, it's immoral, it's more than annoying for you, but do unto others and all that????

    Grow up...

Ripped off because the buyer believed the item needed the high postage due to the items weight so in good faith paid that postage price beleiving it was a reasonable charge. Obviously later found when the item arrived with a £1.50 postage on stamps, that they had been RIPPED OFF. When even querying it with the seller, was told "tough". So obviously ripped off. The seller could have refunded the additional postage charge but didn't.

So the buyer was RIPPED OFF!

Bit like the bank court case now of people saying that just because the charges are stated, doesn't mean they aren't being ripped off!

I do actually complete a self assessment form in each year and have done for many years. As for £9 for half hours standing I feel that is extremely fair. Don't get me wrong I often charge a lot less but at Christmas my time was far more valuable. In life you decide what you are worth. I value my self at more than a couple of pounds an hour!!

There is a clear difference here of 'ripping customers off' and valuing your own time. If it means simply putting an item in an envelope and throwing it in the post box then a very small charge need be applied. If it means a lot of wrapping, getting it recorded at post office, waiting in queues etc I think you should value your time more. Just my opinion.

Really? - how heavy can a camera case really be? Sorry to the OP, but a fool and their money are easily parted - there is a huge difference between being conned/ripped off, and being selective with information intake.

And what about your prior suggestion of getting the seller spammed? Are you going to try to justify that, or are you choking on humble pie?
