extortionate P & P charges

I just bought a camera case off Ebay and the p & p charge was £9.99. To be honest i thought the case would be heavy and expected it to maybe half of that in postage. However the case has arrived and its only cost £1.50 to post.
Its my own fault for paying it I suppose. Is there anything you can do about overcharging people???
I emailed the guy telling him i wasnt impressed but his answer was tough .

A lesson learnt maybe :o

There's a report button at the bottom of every listing. It is a lesson learnt but it doesn't mean you have to take it lying down.

eBay are really cracking down on this type of thing.. people buying things and then the postage is extortionate.

eBay doesn't charge final value or listing fees on the postage, so it is cheaper for sellers to list things by loading extra money on the postage.

It's eBays own fault for messing with the way sellers can sell, they seem to move the goal posts every month..

You can report him, and leave him very poor rating for postage charges.. if people get below a certain level for postage they get banned I think..

    Good Luck.

you can see the PP rate. so the price of the item at your door, is the price plus the PP.
yes ebay are clamping down on heavy PP charges. but they do allow money for expenses for packing etc...
in this case maybe say 5 quid would have been reasonable? but it doesnt escape the fact that you knew the PP price upfront.
    Get some gorm.

He may have known the postage cost up front, but the OP has said he expected the case to be heavier, and probably even expected recorded or insured.
I agree £10 is too much for something which actually cost £1.50.
It's BOUGHT (to Buy), not BROUGHT (to bring) AND you cannot be frauded, only DEfrauded.

Please do not buy animals from a pet store. Visit your local sanctuary or centre and give a good home to an unloved or abandoned animal.
  • You could sit back and do as the other two posts (whom seem like ebay sellers) have said and ignore my comments and accept that you've been done over by some prat... or you can have revenge, as why should you care about someone who has basically knowlingly ripped you off?

How was the OP ripped off or had over when the P&P was clearly displayed BEFORE they won or paid for the item?

Sellers list high P&P because they know people will still pay up then whinge later.

As for your suggestion on the spam email - be VERY careful what you wish on other people - it's not difficult for me, or anyone else on here to do the exact same thing to you. yes, it's illegal, it's immoral, it's more than annoying for you, but do unto others and all that????

    Grow up...

If you are referring to me, I think it is clear from my post that on the occassion I was describing , I was a buyer!

I sold an item before Christmas for £200 that needed wrapping a lot. It also needed bubblewrap etc. At that time of year I also had to wait in a post office queue for 1/2 hour (with it being Christmas). It cost me £6 to send. I charged £20. Customer was not happy and had a moan. Wanted to know where the £14 went. I explained

    petrol,
wages for waiting in a queue,
    bubblewrap,
    Paper,

I value my time. It doesn't cost nothing to go to the nearest Post Office. Time is money. If it clearly says so in the description you must take that into accopunt when you bid. Customer was still not happy.
