These sort of sellers should at least have the decency to explain that you are planning on charging over the odds for postage.

No, these sellers should be putting a higher reserve/starting price on the item to factor in this cost for their so called "time doing this...". That way the buyer is only paying a reasonable postage charge and is not left feeling ripped off later. The reason they don't is to avoid Ebays fees, so in essense are breaking the rules anyway so deserve anything that comes back on them!

OP There is an easy way out of this really. Postage and packing now has its own star on the sellers feedback, so just leave an accurate rating , maybe 3* to reflect your feelings on the amount charged.

Surely the best way of stopping so called excesive charges is to not buy goods from them. If their stuff doesn't sell they might get the message

Ripped off because the buyer believed the item needed the high postage due to the items weight so in good faith paid that postage price beleiving it was a reasonable charge. Obviously later found when the item arrived with a £1.50 postage on stamps, that they had been RIPPED OFF. When even querying it with the seller, was told "tough". So obviously ripped off. The seller could have refunded the additional postage charge but didn't.

So the buyer was RIPPED OFF!

Bit like the bank court case now of people saying that just because the charges are stated, doesn't mean they aren't being ripped off!

    Sorry, this is nonsense.

Its simply down to fee avoidance. Say a trader buys an item at £10, needs to make £5 profit to stay in business and postage is £2. Say fees amount to £2 of top of that.

So, £17 for the item (to include profit and fees) + £2 postage = £19

Instead, as his fees are based on the final value fee of the sale item, NOT including the postage, if he weights the postage heavily he might only pay £1 in fees, he could list it as purchase price (£10) + postage (£2)+ fee (£1) + profit (£5) = £18

£5 for the item, £13 for postage. Overall he gets £18, minus £1 for fees, £2 for actual postage, and he still gets his £5 profit, but YOU the buyer save £1.

Of course, this is 'against ebay rules' (as they get less fees), but the seller can sell the item for less overall and save the buyer money.

No one is being 'robbed', as theres no way the seller could sell the item for less and stay i business. Its about 'total price to pay' for the item NOT about the individual price of the item and postage.

If you cant get your head around the simple mathematics of that, then dont buy from sellers who are doing that.

Spam the seller's inbox, ruin there credit rating. Sounds like very good advice.

After all what could possibly go wrong. You get banned from ebay for harrasement, he police get called as you are assuming there identity and trying to ruin there credit. Get arrested and prosecuted.

What an absolute bargain and all for £9.99. Sounds like the deal of the century

I would seriously suggest that the OP does not give auction details on here, firstly it identifies their own id and secondly there is no need.

The post and packing whether excessive or not has been paid and eby will not do anything about it now. However, any seller that routinely inflates their p and P will merely pay higher fVfs in future due to the stupid new rules. To qulaify for the lower FVfs sellers have to be power sellers and have stars at 4.8 across the board, so a few 3* for p and p and they lose any benefits from high volume selling.

I have bought by sellers where I have considered before bidding that p and p is high, but where I couldn't buy elsewhere. I have however left stars as low as 2* for the appropriate categories.

Yes, because spam is such a high profile crime that the police would divert all it's resources to solving who did it.

They don't even bother looking for stolen cars now and just wait for it to be reported by the public when it's left somewhere. I some how doubt some spam and someone using the persons name for things online is going to be getting even looked at let alone solved.
