Story of Sallys Stupid Spending.....

I can't believe its a month since I have written on here. Really need some motivation, feeling down about the debts at the moment and I seem to have slipped back into spending. Ive been ebaying and making lots on there but it all seems to have gone on day to day spending rather than putting it in the debt pot. Don't know whats up with me at the moment, I so need to clear the £2000 hSBC overdraft as im still being charged interest.
Anyway had our dmp review and its now gone up a bit so debt will come down a bit quicker. DH is also starting his new job on Monday...horay! Waiting to see how much extra we will end up with (after petrol, car bits, lunches etc) I'm thinking it will only work out £200-£300 per month.
Well going to get listing some more old clothes my mum has given me to sellI'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

You're doing really well Sally so don't be so down on yourself. How about setting yourself a wee mini challenge to see how quickly you can get below 10K - that was a great feeling for me when it was finally in four figs instead of five so might give you the boost you need.
Be proud of how much you've achieved so far though as that's a load of money paid off.Mortgage OP 2025 £7550/7000Mortgage OP 2024 £7700/7000
Mortgage balance: £34,196

That's a good idea of Sally's..... don't be down, we all need motivating from time to time - me more than most :rotfl:
When I get back from holiday (going on Mon) I'm really going to get my a**e into gear so maybe we could do something together??"Nobody made a greater mistake than he who did nothing because he could only do a little." Edmund Burke

Tig thats sounds great, you have HSBC stuff to pay too so we could go head to head maybe!! I really don't want to give them anymore dam money!
Also I need to do another lot of bank charges. I got back £4.5k maybe 2 years ago? but we had further charges so DH is going to claim and it amounts to nearly 1K...now that would be a great help in paying off the overdraft!I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. Thanks SS, I know we are in a much better financial position to 2 years ago, its just tiring isn't it. I would love to be in a position that we had money just to go out and spend as chose fit...although now I would probably be very tight about spending it on useless carp!skint_spice wrote: »You're doing really well Sally so don't be so down on yourself. Morning Sally
Ive been felling the same and put some posts on the board today. Its just so hard to kick the habit. Im on an overtime ban with work for the summer which is stupid, i was sick twice in a year, both not my fault so not allowed overtime for 3 months....oh well at least ill have lots of rest days! lol
But the only thing i can say is motivating me today is that i am coming up with some meal ideas, im going to get those foil trays and make up meals, i got tons of mince yest reduced and will make my own cottage pies, and mum says use up the chicken in the freezer so ill make some sweet and sour chicken and rice tubs? not sure on that one! it is meant to be fun cooking and will save loads the next few months.
Other thing, jsut keep motivated in the way everyone says, one or two months is only a little setback, jsut try and be good and stop there. Im doing it this weekend, find something to keep you occupied, maybe saturday plan a more 4 afternoon watching the property programmes, it helps me think i will have my own one day just like this!!
Hope i have cheered you up girls....TallieDebt for Tallie - JUNE 2009NATWEST LOAN......5000.00CREDIT CARDS........5000.00STUDENT LOAN.......7500.00TESCO CARD..........1000.000 -
Thanks Tallie
I do just need to get back onto it. I will be pleased when at the end of June I will know exactly how much DH will bring home every month. I looked online and it says £1800 approx but no idea how much it will cost us in extra petrol, packed lunches etc
Right going to have a mooch around town and try and get some bargains to cook some mealsI'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

Hi Sally
Last year there were a couple of challenges, no unnecessary spending, here's the link

Do you fancy it for June? We could have a head to head and see who saves the most money?"Nobody made a greater mistake than he who did nothing because he could only do a little." Edmund Burke

Hey Tig this sounds like a great idea. I take it we set ourselves a budget for all necessary stuff and stuff already planned in. But no spending on bits here and there that we don't need.
Going to have to wait until the end of the month as I have no idea what DH is going to get with starting a new job and how much petrol is going to cost
Think It will really encourage me to try and spend under budget!I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

Fab news... Shall we start 1st June? Gives us a week to come up with a budget and we can update each day. It helped me last year."Nobody made a greater mistake than he who did nothing because he could only do a little." Edmund Burke
