Hi everyone
This is the first time I've started a thread so hope I've done it right!
I have been paid today and have decided (inspired by the giving up spending for lent challenge) to challenge myself to a month of no unnecessary spending:eek:
I have made a good start today by only buying diesel for my car - £34.92. This will last me for a month until my next payday. Apart from that I have spent nothing.:j
1 Day down, 30 to go:eek:
Wish me luck!!

hi, and good luck with the challenge. I too have been motivated by that thread and Laurens meet the Frugals where she has decided to go a year without spending.
Im not sure I'd last but saying that I think im spending only about £20 a month anyhow. I'll keep my eyes peeled and will check for updates from you.

Would love to join in but have got a really 'heavy money month' ahead of me, 21st birthday, easter, another big birthday and going away for a few days over easter. Good luck and keep posting so we can see how your doing.0

Hi Southern Chick
I class necessary as fuel, groceries (healthy stuff cos on diet!!:o ), and bills:( - although I am very tempted by the cookies/chocolate!!!:rotfl:
Everything else this month is off limits! If any events come up that I've forgotten about I'll have to make presents and I've got a stock pile of cards, I've got a cupboard full of make up and toiletries, loads of books to read, dvds to watch, etc so fingers crossed I won't need anything else (even though I'll probably want it!!!)
Must stay strong!!! No spend day today anyway:jOfficial DFW Nerd - Member 408 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!0 -

Hi Ciara
I agree, she's fab at motivation - as you all are on the Giving up Money for Lent Challenge:T
It's that challenge which has inspired me - if I had seen it sooner I would have started it with you all. As it is I thought I may as well wait for payday to start it so I can see how much I've saved by the end of the month cos I normally spend every penny!!!:eek:Official DFW Nerd - Member 408 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!0 -

Oh good luck - I could do with joining you on this one. My downfall is clothes from eBay - how embarassing is that?!
this morning I logged onto my bank to find I had gone overdrawn in my two accounts - I really feel rubbishy and annoyed with myself for that
So, I have a notebook now with all my spendings in it and I'd love to go for 'essentials' only - food, fuel, bills - the same as you.
Good luck my 'no unecessary spending for a month' buddy

Good Luck with your challenge, and feel free to join the groupies on our next project!
My top tip would be, pay off all your bills if they're not on DD's. withdraw emergency £10 cash, and freeze your debit card!!!
That way temptation is out of the way, and if you do NEED anything you'll go through careful prep (i.e make a shopping list) and then can unfreeze it for that.
OR!
Simply do your food shopping online, and that way you wont be tempted when you're in the supermarket!Wealth is not measured by currency0 -
