As you can't afford to pay it for six or seven weeks, a bit of delaying tactic wouldn't hurt. Why don't you write and say that you are prepared to pay it at 40p in the £ if your credit file is marked 'settled'.

If they reply that their policy is to mark it 'partially settled' you could reply 'OK but I'll only offer 35p in the £'.

But at the end of the day 40p isn't bad.

NOt much to update really, feeling a bit down in the dumps at the moment and this is always lethal for my spending. I definately have realised that I emotionally spend, trying to cheer myself up.
Got loads of bits onto ebay last night so hoping that I might make £50 this week which will go into my debt pot.
RIght housework to do before DH gets home from work

    Hi Sally,

Just read through your diary... well done for your achievements so far.

You sound a lot like me, I spend when I'm feeling sad, down etc. Then feel bad and guilty as I've not paid that money towards my debt. As for buying for DD... I'm dreadful but have been good recently.

What do you do for work? I work 3 days a week and have wed/thurs off with DD. I feel I have to do things with her, we go round to a friends house each week so the kids can play together. It is hard work entertaining a 2yr old, they're so full of energy. Fresh air is the best thing to tire my DD out. Have a bike? I've got a child seat and I cannot wait to cycle with her again. Now the nice weather is here I have no excuse.

I don't know if you've seen the thread - Southerners trip to Moors Valley? There's a few of us meeting there 2moro, if you've no plans why not come along. You can meet some of us. I'm bringing my DD who is 2.5 so she'd love another little one to play with.

We're having a picnic and trying to keep costs low, would be great if you can make it xx

    Hiya Tigzem
Emotional spending is definately my crutch so to speak...that and eating grrrr why does it have to be like this! Its funny how you alter your spending once you have a child, I hardly buy at all for me now, always DD.
I work in a very lovely Baby Shop 3 afternoons a week and every other saturday. I've always loved to have jobs that stretched me mentally but now I just love being able to go to work and then come home. My Boss is fab and because its an independant little place Im on my own with free reigns over the place. DD goes to Nursery and I get my time but like you said I try and keep busy and do nice things with her when we are together.
As for cycling, we love it.!!! We sold our car to cut costs and have been cycling everywhere since September...been chilly but suprisingly haven't got wet on many occasions. Have been on the bike non stop this week to keep costs down and DD loves it.
Where do you live (south west)?
Right off to see if there is a party tonight! :T

But do you really? Or do you buy to make *you* feel better, and it's DD that gets lumbered withthe stuff because you can justify it to yourself more easily than if you bought stuff for anyone else?

Absolutely, in fact I buy for her to make me feel better as I never had nice stuff when I was a child and don't want her have to be brought up like that. Especially clothes Zed, I always had hand me downs and charity shop (now I often buy stuff off ebay but that sure wasn't around when I was a child) and so I want her to look nice and not get teased like I did as a child.

Ok..will just check that no-one else has already ;)

And do you think that being "different" is a reason...or just an excuse for teasing?

I seem to remember that the lads with big fists and who looked like "the missing link" (at best) or gorillas (at worst) never seemed to take much stick for it...

Emotional spending is the undoing of us all.

 Unsure, Kids tease for various reasons and can be very cruel. As long as she is confident, happy in herself and knows that I love her, I'll be happy. God this is all a bit deep and meaningful for a Friday night

So is that an admission that you maybe don't actually need to be spending on her? And that you're going to stop?

I can do deep and meaningful at any time...and other times I just do deep and full...

Or karate/judo/kickboxing - or anything that strengthens her self-confidence and self-respect?
