    Hi Borgie,

Today is the day when we find out about the schools - email from Ed Auth a couple of weeks ago said we would be able to find out online late this pm so watch this space....................

No date for moving yet, new LL has been extremely busy with one thing and another (including rewire of house) and is sending a letter to CAP confirming that we will be having the property so that I can send it onto The Hemel School to go on their continued interest list, but found out on website that this must be with them by 17th March so need to get it this week and forward onto Ed Auth.

If we were to stay where we are then twins would have to go to a different school as we are anything from 10 -15 miles away from 2 of the schools chosen but if they get the first choice then it is only about 1.5miles from where we are now. If they get the first choice school then from Hemel they can get a school bus.

It has gone a bit quiet mainly because there is nothing much to report - however, that makes for a very down and unsettled MOT and I'm not coping well at the moment again. Going to chase CMHT appt again today, and also writing to Chiropractor to see if he will do me a discount on his fee as I need to go every week - 10 days at the moment and I can't afford it, therefore when I do go the good work he does is completely gone by the time I can afford to go back and thats not helping either - the pain is so debilitating.

Sorry to moan - hope you're all ok xx

Well, school places have been allocated and its not good news but whats new eh  .

Twins haven't been allocated any of the 3 choices that we put down, they have been given places at the school nearest to the cottage (where we lived before we were evicted) and the reason I didn't put this down as a choice was because a) it is a very large school and A has trouble with crowds and bullies and b) because F was bullied at school in yrs 4 and 5 by 3 girls who now go to the big school and will be in the year above her.

Also, to go to this school would mean me taking and fetching again for the first 2/3 years as it is 2.9 miles away from new home so wouldn't qualify for free transport (not that I really mind ferrying them around!).

So, from the Ed Auth website it looks like I have to a) go on continued interest lists for the 2 schools we would have liked and b) appeal to go to the nearest school to the new house - so please LL I need that tenancy agreement asap:confused:

F absolutely devastated that she didn't get the school she wanted and has been crying since we found out at 4.30pm!

Oh, that is a real shame but don't give up hope.

Having been through the herts school mill 4 times, I can sympathise.

Places do come up contniunally from now until September with a lot of movement in March.

As private school deadlines are reached, people are pulling out of places at state schools. In fact some people only apply as a back up with no intention of sending their children to state schools. Even popular schools like Dame Alice Owen have places appear.

Also people that live near the boundary still manage to apply for a school in Herts and outside so lists will move.

That cottage was your address on 31/10 so it would have been used in giving you your allocation. Now that you will have a new address the continued interest should give you a place at another school.

That distance measurement has to be done by the safest walking route and you could still get a grace and favour coach place. you know.

Aww MOT thats a shame :grouphug:
i didnt realise that there was such as big issue with schools, when i went to school you just automatically went to the nearest one.!
when my nephew was starting school 2 years ago my sister hated the school they allocated to him ( and the uniform :D) she called the lea and categorically told them that she was not sending her son to such a school , they miraculously found her a place in the school she wanted. Don't know if this tactic will work for you as my sis seems to have a knack of getting what she wants....maybe i could send her to you for a few weeks!!:rotfl:

Oh MOT I'm so sorry that they didn't get the school they wanted. Schools are such a big deal - I was so lucky I went to a really good school ... but it could have been so different.

Where I am, one criteria (for primary schools - we're nowhere near secondary yet!) is distance - so hopefully that will help your case ... when you get the agreement of course. Got everything crossed for you for that too.

I'm miserable about WW - I lost NOTHING last week and I was walking like a demon as I was back at work. Anyway, back to it with a vengance this week. Don't know which curry you made - we liked the Chicken Tikka Masala - but only with the addition of some thickening granules as it was a bit thin otherwise.

I have a special birthday next year - it's my birthday on Thursday and I'm trying to enjoy my last year in this decade. How great to go to a nice restaurant though - I do hope you really enjoy it. What a nice treat.

Keep us up to date with it all - and I hope the twins are not too upset. So often it seems these things can be resolved in the end and they have been so strong in everything else. Let's all do a tenancy agreement dance in the hope it turns up very very soon!

    Take care

    Thanks everyone :grouphug: ,

And thanks silvercar for such good advice again - the first thing I did when I found out about the school was email CAP and tell them and explain how urgent it is to receive this agreement, so fingers crossed again that I get it this week as it has to be with the Ed Auth by March 17th.

Anyway, have had a rough couple of days and am now shattered so off to read in bed for a while before a good nights sleep (hopefully!!) and up in a more positive frame of mind tomorrow:confused:
