'2. Sellers will no longer be able to leave negative or neutral Feedback for buyers. This change will occur in May, 2008.'
Whaaaaaaat? This is bonkers. They must be really confident in their strike system. My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
I think overall it is good.
It will mean more Negs to the scammers selling poor/fake goods and waffling dropshippers who take Months to deliver an item.
It is this group which seems targeted. These are the areas buyers are scared to leave negs in case of retaliatory negs.
Of course the good sellers with bad buyers are going to get dragged down too, but a lesser amount than those above.0 -
4. Positive Feedback percentage will be based on the past 12 months of Feedback, rather than lifetime, since it is most indicative of the seller's recent performance.
Great!!!! That means sellers like me, who have been registered for a couple of years but only sold a handful of stuff will end up with a crappy feedback rating and make people wary of buying from us. Thanks very much Ebay! Positive FB is earned by buyers and sellers alike and is almost a badge of honour for some people. I know I'm very proud of my 89!!:dance:One good turn gets most of the duvet!! :dance:0 -
How is removing negative feedback going to be a good thing, if all anyone can do from then on is give good feedback & not warn others of potential scammers, might as well scrap feedback altogether.Winnings

But hang on - isn't it just the percentage? I would expect the number of transactions to stay the same (but broken down on the member page as it is currently). They just won't include transactions more than 12 months old in the percentage calculation.
So, in my case, I've got about 270 over 3 years, but my percentage is 99% because someone mistakenly left me a negative 3 years ago.
I would expect to remain at 270 but with 100%.

i think it will just increase the no of non paying bidders or those who wait until the last day of the dispute before paying.
all buyers will have 100% feedback so what is the point of the feedback system?
i will be selling everything i have before these changes come into place then just sell more on amazon.0 -

Hmmm ... I see your point, but if it is based on 12 months - and you sell 4 items in that 12 months, 2 of which are delayed (say due to RM strike for example) and you get 2 negs your FB is 50% rather than say 96% (Just for arguements sake rather than doing any mathmatics lol):dance:One good turn gets most of the duvet!! :dance:0 -
Just when you think ebay can't get anymore stupid...
I am so glad I quit ebay last year. Good luck to all of you with the headaches to come!0 -

I can usually see a good reason for most of the things that ebay do..but preventing sellers from leaving feedback is nonsensical. So I am at the mercy of every little buyer who decides to leave a neutral or a neg because they don't like waiting 24 hours for me to allow the post office to get their goods to them, or maybe like the neutral I got last year, they changed their mind after buying and decided to leave a neutral because they were cross at themselves for having wasted money again!!
I notice the link goes to ebay.com, are we sure this also applies to ebay UK...(Clutching at straws here)
