Before the diet it was the bacon and egg sandwich......but not just any bacon and egg sandwich.
It had to be a ciabatta roll warmed in the oven till gently crisp .....lightly spread with mayonnaise and layered with, three rashers of smoked bacon, grilled until the edges are crisp and golden, a large free-range egg, fried until just but not quite set... Sprinkle lightly with black pepper and served with a large mug of aromatic coffee. Enjoy....but beware the risk of the eggy chin.
Thats not just any weekend breakfast but a Need2bthrifty weekend breakfast.Jan - June Grocery spends = £531.61
July - Grocery spends = £119.54
Aug - Grocery spends = £87.350 -

make it a pita bread (just less volume) or an open sandwich and trim a little fat off the bacon and that would be a perfectly good diet breakfast. especially after some exerciseLiving cheap in central London :rotfl:0 -
today I have FIL helping OH fit a new loft door/loft steps in one combo thing, so I had to make brunch.
Did grilled sausages, grilled hashbrowns, grilled bacon chops, fried eggs, beans and toast as FIL can't function without his fry up! Though mine is much less fried than his is.
Usually its things on toast, cheese/beans/scrambled eggs or croissants, jam & coffee.
We tend to eat a larger late breakfast, then not have lunch, and go straight to tea on a weekend - its the one way I can justify having what I had today!0 -
I've made way too much mash and cabbage for dinner tonight, shame. Looks like bubble and squeak for brunch tomorrow :-)0

Porridge made on the hob - no time for that in the week and miles better than when it's microwaved. With salt, sugar, banana and jam - yum yum! Plus a few rounds of toast and tea in the pot all laid up nicely on the table. LOVE weekend breakfasts.0

My faves are either kippers on toasted brown bread or the lovely boyf does a version of huevos rancheros (tortillas, chorizo, egg & cheese with any fresh or frozen herbs kicking around). The huevos is usually a bit of a use-up meal to use half packs of tortillas, any ends if cheese & chorizo hanging around :0)First home- Oct’16 until June’21: £170.995- Overpayments made £13,784 (25% extra!).
New forever home- Sep’21 £309,449 @ 2.05%. Plan to clear it before 30 years!!!!!!0 -
Another vote for (mum's version of) French toast (bread soaked in egg, with a dash of icing sugar and kirsch) with crispy streaky bacon, drizzled with maple syrup
I'm veggie, but this is OH's vote! I like poached eggs, sprinkled with salt, with toasted soda bread to dip into them0 -
Ohh,
popovers with strawberry butter are a winner here
quesadillas
scramblies or some other way with eggs - daughter would have soft boiled with asparagus dippers every day if she were allowed.
beans on toast
croissants, warmed with butter and jam
sometimes, like once a year, a 'fry' up with sausage black pudding, egg, bacon, pancakes
croque monseuir
huervos rancheros
I love weekend breakfasts :j0
