If you have a slow cooker you could make some delicious home made Boston baked beans (there are several recipes on here) to serve with toast or sausages etc. This could be cooked ahead and frozen. Follow with the assorted muffins.0

how about this traditional welsh lunch or supper favourite?
its called PWDIN CAWS (cheese pudding) and is made rather like a bread and butter pudding
butter a shallow oven proof dish and put the oven on to about Gas 4.
then take some thick slices of bread (crusts off) and line the bottom of the dish.
then sprinkle over about 2 ozs of grated cheese, and do another layer of bread and cheese.
now bring a pint of milk to the boil and pour it slowly over a beaten egg (very slowly so the egg doesnt scramble - as if you were making creme anglais). add cayenne pepper (i use about a good pinch and a good pinch of grated nutmeg).
pour the milk mixture over the bread and cheese and sprinkle a little more cheese on the top (I like to sprinkle breadcrumbs on too) and put in the oven for about 30 - 40 minutes.
Its lovely served warm but is nice cold too with some green salad.0 -
i know a lot of people have a "naughty" breakfast at the weekend. Because of reading Nottoobadyet's post, i was inspired to have american pancakes today. One with maple syrup and macadamia nuts, another with a home made cherry compote with a touch of vanilla paste.
just wondered what everybody else has for a treat. i would normally have a bacon sandwich or a fry up.Opinion on everything, knowledge of nothing.0 -
Half a soda bread topped with a fried (or poached if I could do them!) egg, bacon & half a tin of Heinz chili baked beans...0

didn't manage to get a food shop delivered this morning, and the kids have got a friend sleeping over, always have flour and eggs in so it's pancakes here too. When they get up, they are teens!0

Treat brekkie is usually eggs cooked in a teacup in the microwave - they come out a bit like poached eggs - in a toasted english muffin with plenty of black pepper
yum! I've also got poach pods so will do them in the pods in a pan sometimes (takes a bit longer but they do come out very nice).

Waffles with maple syrup.
American pancakes (I use the recipe from Nigella's How To Be a Domestic Goddess). Usually again with maple syrup.
Home made Danish pastries, usually with a lemon & ricotta filling (pastry recipe from Nick Malgieri's Bake, filling from Domestic Goddess).
This morning I'm making Norwegian cinnamon buns although by the time they're ready it'll be closer to lunchtime!
I love having something a bit special for a weekend breakfast, especially if we have friends or family staying. We actually have two waffle makers (different shapes) and I would never part with them even if they don't get used every day or even every week.0 -
