OH just back from fetching the slow cooker ................weeny it is !! Definitely a one person job..............oh well, never mind. One of the kids we have will get the benefit of it. He said the lady was so nice. Invited him in for a coffee.
Just found out we've got 10 days holiday left to take before April. Hadn't realised it was so much so we're going to book a few days away in March around OH's birthday but so it doesn''t clash too much with Easter.
Have to check what offers there are at Travel Lodge. We fancied going to Kings Lynn. It's not far for OH to drive and there's a good market there so I've heard. Last time I looked Travel Lodge were doing rooms at £19 a night so I'll have to check that out again.

Jocket, big hugs to your DD. Miss tru's friend was killed last year, so I can imagine how your DD is feeling. I watched miss tru and her friends 'close ranks' after it happened, they kept their phones on for each other and would answer at any time, day or night. We (all the parents) also let them sleep at each other's houses when they felt like it, there would be 5 or 6 of them squished in one room LOL.

I'm feeling a bit pathetic  I had a filling this morning, local anaesthetic doesn't agree with me at all  As it wears off, I get really cold and a headache kinda creeps in slowly and gets worse til it feels almost like a migraine, then it starts to ease off. Weird, because after a general anaesthetic, I feel wonderful and the nurses tell me off for trying to get up too quickly  :D

So far today, I have washed up. And that's it :D Oh and I watched 28 weeks Later while I was snuggled under a blanket :D

Mary43 we use our small slow cooker if we are making soup just for the two of us out of leftover bits, so yours may still come in handy.

Csarina thanks for the cooking ideas. I'm trying to be OS and as thrifty as possible, and that includes special occasions. When I think back to what I would have spent for a meal out to celebrate in years gone by, I am horrified now. Some of your special recipe ideas would fit the bill perfectly. Maybe you could do us a "cook your celebration meal at home" course.

I can do plain healthy cooking, but I really lack imagination when it comes to the finishing touches or any extras, so I really appreaciate any tips. I know who to ask in future now. :T

Hadn't thought of that but not sure it whether it would be big enough.........might get a bowl each though. OH is used to making soup in a great big pan ..........eat some, freeze some. I'll mention it to him see what he thinks.
One of our ex foster boys called up this afternoon...........would have been ok for him once upon a time but now he's got a girlfriend so it wouldn't be big enough.

Csarina..............your meals sound a lot more exciting that OH's concoction we just had..............peppered liver with saute potatos..............very very nice though and a way of using up some mushrooms, fresh tomatos, peppers, not to mention the liver.:T oh.........and some cream.............lol

    Evening everyone

happy birthday to the birthday lord

dds friends mum just picked her up so I can get on with the cooking and so on. She has so far to go to work and if something goes wrong she ends up really late so I pick her dd up at the same time as mine. she pays me back by having dd11 over for a sleepover every now and then which is lovely.
had to phone the bank today to get some special numbers for ddad to transfer dd18's inheritance in and the lady said that I'm due a lending review and was now a good time. Oh dear not really said I while my brain said "run away! run away!" - hope they won't pull the overdraft out from under me

we got free tickets for Afrika! Afrika! on saturday thanks to another board - well chuffed but need to persuade exoh to let dd11 have a Mummy Weekend so that we can go

Am being pestered by dd11 who is reading everything out loud over my shoulder - yes you :)

    bye for now
I'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 2008

    Hiya,

Jockettuk So sorry to hear about that young girl and the pain her family must be going through. Hope your daughter has a better night tonight.

I spent most of the morning at a routine appointment at docs, taking stuff to the tip, getting petrol, clothes shopping and looking for bargains in the 90% Boots sale. Oh and took the girls to get their hair cut after school too.
I'm going to my friend's 40th birthday party this weekend and DH is having a big birthday party in a couple of weeks time so I treated myself to a new top and some trousers. I will wear them for each party as different people will be at both! :rotfl:

I've cleaned the whole house and I've filled the sc which will cook overnight and hopefully give us a lovely stew for tomorrow's tea. Tonight we had the other half of last night's shepherd's pie so that made life easier for me. :D
    Have a good evening.

Well, I'm supposed to be at the community street survey thingy but instead I am home with my head propped up on the sofa - I put my neck out about 5 mins after posting this morning  All I did was turn round in the shower and it "went", so I've been in agony all day and unable to move properly  Am hoping if I relax and support my head it'll loosen up by the morning.

Trying to get an office desk "freecycled"" as we do not need it anymore but have had two enquires and no definate arrangements yet.

Had phone call just before 5p.m. and someone wants to view the house tomorrow which would be great except she has already offered for next door and have the feeling she is only looking at ours to try to "bargain".

Will do a quick tidy round tomorrow but am not going crazy as we have lost the house we really wanted and DH has not seen anything he likes the look of yet.

Had ordered a laptop for DDs birthday in Feb and just been told it is out of stock and will not be coming in at all so spent most of the afternoon trying to find a different laptop that she would like as much. Eventually found something and agreed it with her over the phone.

I hate this time of year! DH really cheers up in January whereas I get really down and feel Spring will never arrive!

    JockettUK

    Big hug to your daughter.
