ive to go to the hospital this afternoon and ive just got a letter to say the manager of the unit i work on wants to see me tommorow as ive been sick six months im a bit upset and i know its routine im but i know that i maybe will have to stop nursing as im too ill now its so hard to come to terms with
anyway ive managed to empty the dw inbetween dizzy spells and put the washer on oh what a exiting life i lead im glad your all here to talk to i have to say i fell more lonley every day but on a positive note saw a new gp yesterday and she seemed much better well she listened0 -
This site drives me wild, I just typed a long message and its gone into space……………..ggggggggggggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
OH has recovered from his dizzy spell and is out having a short walk……
I have been wondering for while why I feel so lethargic and unconnected………this morning it has hit me like a rock thrown from a great height………..I started to read a book by Marlena de Blasi…..and booooooofffffffff………………..I realised what was wrong.
As many of you know I trained as a chef.
We have been doing moneysaving for so long to pay off a loan, I am missing cooking all the dishes I used to cook…pork that tastes like wild boar, cassolet, flat bread, braised beans etc…………so I have decided that for one day a week we will have one of the things I used to cook. I cannot remember the last time we had the lamb shoulder, studded with garlic, marinated in red wine and cooked on a bed of rosemary etc………
I have done my meal plan for the month and also the shopping list for Tesco………….does anyone know where you can get duck sausages from????????????? We love them pan fried and served with spuds and peas mashed together with rich red wine sauce…………….so I am about to change it.
We have shepherds pie for tonight, I have cooked turkey breast for tomorrow, diced onion softened in a knob of butter and oil, lightly crushed garlic, diced turkey, tossed until sealed. A slosh of white wine, herbes de provence, pepper, cooked until the wine has reduced to half, then a cup of turkey or chicken stock, season to taste and cook on a low light for about half an hour until the turkey is cooked. Cool and leave in a dish in the fridge over night.
Next day, stir a couple of teaspoons of cornflour into half a cup of natural yogurt (this stops the yogurt splitting) and add to the turkey in a saucepan, stir until the sauce has thickened.
I serve it with egg noodles, they only take a couple of minutes in hot water…………a crusty loaf cut in thick slices to mop up the sauce….scrummy………………there I feel better now.............and looking forward to tomorrows supper LOL..........
When I make shepherds pie I sprinkle the mashed spud topping with paprika.(OOOHHHHHHHHHH Hungarian goulash) grate parmesan and sprinkle, when its reheated the top goes crunchy........................Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -
jayward - so sorry you're feeling down.
Csarina - my OH was a trained chef and seems so often to get down, especialy this time of the year. Hadnt thought that could be the reason.
We have fairly basic meals now - needs must - but he does get a kick out creating what he calls a 'concoction' of bits and pieces that are kicking about. He proudly puts it in front of me with the warning that he's no idea what it'll be like..............lol It's always lovely but then next day its back to something with mince !
I bought him a basket of assorted herbs and spices and he revelled in it............lol Got some the other day to send to my son and OH's face nearly hit the floor - I'm sure he was positively drooling over them.............lol
So go for it - have a 'chef type haute cuisine' dinner.................serve, pour glass of wine (or get OH to do that) and enjoy..................:TMary
I'm creative -you can't expect me to be neat too !

Afternoon everyone
bit late posting today as been so busy, the usual morning chores are out of the way and the hounds have been walked, DH has now lft for w**k and i`ll be off later.
I`ll be off upstairs after half an hour browsing to have a quick swish and swipe around.
We missed CSI last night due to the mad hound having a mad half hour, we`d just settled down in front of the tv and it was off, throwing toys running up and down the room skidding to a halt after hitting the rug and the wall lol, it was more entertaining to watch and we couldn`t tell her off as we couldn`t stop laughing.
When she`s been for a walk it seems to make her worse and instead of coming home and going to sleep she just gets hyper, it`s nice to have a dog with so much energy and so full of mischief
Sorry to hear of your daughters friends misfortune JOCKETTUK - what a terrible thing to happen.
Jayward - hope you feel better soon.
Catch up later
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0 -
Mmmm:drool: .. .Csarina those dishes sound yummy, but need they all be expensive? -flatbreads and braised beans sound pretty cheap to me. I love pulse dishes which have a little meatiness added, something porky works best doesn't it? Tonight we are having chickpeas with a bit of chorizo for punch. My kids love the stuff and it's 78p per 100g at the deli in Tesco. I'll put some carrots and red pepper in the stew too, so it will look sunny even if the weather isn't.
Just had my lunch -smoked mackerel pate and oatcakes with some leftover carrot salad and cucumber slices. I've eaten loads of fruit today so feeling really healthy:D
I've cooked a packet of cannellini beans for the freezer this morning and made some bread -4 loaves waiting to go in the oven. I boiled some eggs for a sandwich filling and forgot about them:o they aren't too rubbery though
I've cleaned the bathroom and downstairs loo from top to bottom and succeeded in getting the mould offf the shower curtain (soaking in neat bleach -not very green:o ). I hate cleaning so I'm feeling pleased with myself.
Have also zipped into town to buy ds2's birthday present (11 next Thurs).
Now I'm keeping my fingers crossed that OH can get home early and relieve me of the swimming lesson run (I hate it, messes up tea).0 -
Hi everyone.
Csarina those dishes sound gorgeous-I was in catering for a couple of years or so (not a qualified chef) but was a cook in a nursing home and such and I love to be creative and make different dishes, though not as mouthwatering sounding as yours .
I'be been to drs, he was running late and I only got an hour parking-so it was forunate I didn't arrive back to a parking ticket!!! anyway, he sorted out my inhalers and said he thinks my bad back is down to poor posture (when I sit at the computer!!!), so he recommends physio, because the pain is so severe, that said, he asked me to touch my toes and lean and twist in all different ways and it didn't hurt at all, I did try to explain that it only hurts when I've been walking for ten minutes or so as opposed to sitting in a waiting room for an hour!!!. So I'm back home and I phoned OH who agreed there was no point going into work until tomorrow!!! So I went back to bed for an hour when I got home. The cat has been sitting in my chair (the one I usally sit in) and has set off my allergy!!!so I'm blowing my nose even more and my eyes are streaming. Better do something constructive before kids come home from school... Coffee sounds like a great idea!!!

True Thrifty some of them are cheap, but others can be very expensive...I would like to stop buying Mr T's chicken, but can I really justify £7 something for a chicken when I am dealing with debt...............heaven knows what organic turkey would cost!!!!!
I am looking at using cheaper cuts of meat, I have a recipe somewhere that tenderises brasing steak so you can use it like rump or surloin steak.....it involves a bottle of sherry, but I guess I could afford a bottle from Mr T's.
We managed to get to France on a day trip late last year thanks to Tesco vouchers and travel lodge, when we do go I try to stock up on things I know will freeze ok, groceries are cheaper in France as well as wine, even persil soap powder is cheaper, not that I use it.......they also have bottles of white vinegar for just a few pennies. We have a holiday booked in FRance this year, thanks to our house sitting activities and selling stuff on ebay. We are going to the deep south so will be bring toulouse sausage and if I can find it duck sausage as well as confit du canard for the cassolet. Incedentally you can make the duck sausage recipe with Cumberland or Lincolnshire sausage, bu its not the same!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey ho...............if I had my way we would be living in FRance, but them I would not have all my friends at MSE!!!!!Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -
Afternoon Guys!!
Jayward-Keep your chin up hun. PM me if you want a chat, or we can go on MSN if you want
HJ-Hope your boobjob goes well:D I dont think your having that done, but whatever it is...please recover quickly as I will miss you playing with peoples posts:rotfl:
I havent been too good in the past 24hrs and have had 2 hospital visits seeing 3 different consultants and Im knackered and not feeling good. This mornings blood was a nightmare and it took 15mins for me to stop bleeding as blood isnt clotting:eek:   ....anyway NO visits till Friday:j :j :j nurse is coming in next 2 days with jabs and painkillers:rolleyes: ...lucky me:D
OH won a local competition last week and yesterday he received a BN BOSE stereo normally costing £799:beer:   ...he is so pleased. He was saving up for one and thought he would enter just in case and he bloomin won!!! I did say that he could treat me to something with the money he saved but he told me to get stuffed:p
We had decided to spend the money his folks gave us on a suite as ours has had a good bashing over the past 7 years, so we went to Harveys yesterday on way home and bought a lovely one (reduced by 60%) Its a 3 seater and 2 chairs and bought the 5 yr cover which covers everything and I haggled so we got a further £75 off:D ....I think they felt sorry for me as I was in the wheelchair and bandaged (sp) up...but Im hoping it was my charm that did it:A ....yeah right:rotfl: Put it on the credit card even though they offered 50 years interest free credit or whatever it is nowadays:p and will pay it in full when the bill comes through in 5 weeks...also managed to get £10.00 off next months sky bill as I used the Skycard to pay for it!
My helper was here this morning,so we came back to a tidy and clean home. She even stuck the WM on for me and hung on airer before she left. Have to get OH to drop the ironing in to her later. She is only here for 2 hrs on a Monday but gets so much done for me which I really appreciate and the ironing takes 2-3hrs but she will only charge for 2, so I make it up in other ways and buy her stuff I know she needs or wants as a "thank you"..or I buy something for the baby whom is now 5 months and she was just under 4 weeks when she started...where does the time go?
Anyway, I'm mumbling so will love and leave you.
Hugs to all.
