  • up early again for a day off with round 2 of the builders banging away putting in lintels - at least its dry here and quite sunny so the first lot might finish today - window people start tomorrowspeechless-smiley-040.gif. Tell me why again I thought it would be a good idea to have no glass in the hole on the coldest/windiest days of the year?!

Saw Dad last night - thank you everyone for your best wishes - they have been passed on to Dad and Mum and they said what a nice lot you sounded. Dad looked much more like his old self yesterday - the drain in his foot is helping to take away any excess fluid and his foot is noticeably more foot-shaped and pinker so fingers crossed. He's also decided that when he gets out, whatever the outcome that he won't go back to work - a bloody good idea when you consider that his eyesight is that bad that he can't make out your features 4 foot away - howhe thought he was gonna drive is beyond me anyway. So that solves a few problems - won't need to re-tax or insure his old banger just sling it on the drive with a SORN or get rid for scrap, no breakdown insurance, petrol etc. It doesn't matter if it gets nicked - think the petrol inthe tank has doubled its value.

I also tried to sort out all of his financial papers last night and found out that the mortgage and a loan are covered by sickness protection so that will sort them for a while and am now looking for the best CC to shift his repayments to to avoid the interest - every £100 he's paying out £58 is interest so it won't go down. Also need to check about the predicted mortgage shortfall cause he's been overpaying for 3 years.

So all in all M&D are feeling a bit more in control or on the way to be. And if Daddoes decide he can't work, he might be able to claim some benefits to help them out.

    Right today's jobs:-
    Insurance cheque into joint account
Withdraw rest of money to pay builder
    Asda shop
    Steak and kidney in SC
Clean up rubble inside after builders finish
    WM
    HHI
HHE - need to wait to do my puffing and panting til got house to myself
oh carp and remember to collect prescription that left in Lloyds 3 days ago - dozy mare
    I'd rather be watching CSI!
  • embb - hope you start to feel less tired soon - it must be a shock to the system having to do a whole weeks flying in someone else's house in just 3 hours all the time - no wonder you're knackered and don't feel like doing your own - just try to do a little level 1 so you don't beat yourself up.

Shell - (((hugs))) to you hun - that must feel awful, especially when you're close to your NannyGrans. No easy way to break that kind of news to LOs especially as they are so young.

soappie - don't envy you - I HATE defrosting freezers - hairdryer and towels at the ready eh...

Shell - hugs hun loosing beloved ones is tough. My advise to you would be to be completely honest. Please don't underestimate your children's understanding or emotions about their sad loss. DS3 was nearly 3 when my Dad died. He had experienced the death of pets before so completely understood how final it was. Most children will be more upset about how upset you are than themselves. Saying that I believe it is fine for them so see cry so that they know it is safe and ok to do so. That said DS1 has never been able to express saddess when a pet or relative dies, he doesn't want to show any emotion and just likes to be alone. They will ask questions in the months ahead, and say some funny and/or inappropriate things. Death is something we all have to come to terms with and most of us don't even like to say the word.

Just had some really sad news here that one of the lads in one of the footballs teams local to here died yesterday. I don't know any details but that poor family - he would have been 13/14.

I have heaps to do today so need to get to it but will be back after lunch.

Definately agree with Dusty, sometimes the comments after a death can be funny/make you want to hide with embarrassment. Suppose I know my son understands old people die when waiting for my Nana to open the door (takes her a while) he said 'Oh might be dead, old people do that sometimes, home time' in a very matter of fact way, turned around and started heading back to the car, she heard him through the window and thankfully she's got a great sense of humour and was laughing so much she struggled to open the door. He's asked a few old people if they will die soon aswell, wish he wouldn't but I suppose at least he understands it'll happen now, unfortunately couple of years ago we lost many relatives and friends in a year, went to over 10 funerals :( he sort of had to get used to it.

LG sounds like your Dad is finally on the mend, that is great news. Well done for helping them with the finances too, something many wouldn't do, keeping fingers crossed here that his recovery continues to go well.

Sat sorting my post out, needed some adresses :o always switch the PC off then remember. Kitchen and bathroom S&Sd, Megan brushed for what it's worth, cleared some stuff to make room for OU stuff, filled breadmaker, got DS2 dressed, first wash load in, filled DW and started it. Think that'll have to do as need to go to post office before doctors.
One day I might be more organised...........
    GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb
  • I agree with Dusty about even really little ones take in more than we give them credit for.

Since Dad has been in hospital, my niece has started to talk more about her newborn sister who died last Feb - gosh is it nearly a year already - she was only 2 1/2 at the time but now she's really fretting cause she's missing her Grandad and said that the hospital kept the baby, will it keep Grandad? It helped a bit last night cause Dad was feeling cheerful enough to ring her on the phone so she knew he could still talk to her and we've been filming him on phone with her pictures so she knows we haven't made things up.

It's amazing what they remember isn't it?

I am not amused. Tesco delivery came with a box missing, the cereal and gallons of diluting orange and more importantly my special treat! My dandelion and burdoch, I even got cans this week so it doesn't loose its fizz as I only drink a glass a day! They will refund it, refund it! PAH! I still have to go and buy it again don't I!!!

And the woman on the phone tried to blame the driver she said 'Oh the driver has probably not noticed' I said 'yeah he did, he was the one who pointed it out. Pus he is my neighbour so don't go blaming him, aite?!'. Good job I didn't get all dressed up for the delivery man then isn't it? :rotfl:

DS2 and ADFTD (Adopter Daughter For The Day) are getting on good. DS2 thinks that he has to help take care of the baby, she is 1, so he is spending lots of time chasing after her juice cup and patting her on the head. It won't last long will it?
