    Morning all

Not so good here today. Got a phonecall at 4.45 to say Nan-in-law has taken a turn for the worse and that MIL needed to go in. She has since phoned to say that they have only given her a few hours. She is 92 so know it is no big shock but upsetting none the less. Not sure what to say to the littles about it, or how to explain it. I guess I was about 8 when the first person I knew passed away so understood what it was about a bit more. DDs are 5 and 3 1/2, they love their NannyGrans to bits so just not sure what to say? any tips or advice gratefully received. I am sorry if this brings back bad memories for anyone, that really is not my intention I just dont know who else to ask?

Am in shock they are both still asleep! Me and DH been up since the phone call and the littles have a lie-in (first time both slept this later ever I think). I guess I best wake them up and get DD1 ready for school, figure that things may as well be kept as normal as possible for them as Doctors have been wrong before and she may be around for a while longer or maybe recover (think I may be kidding myself here).

Not sure what will get done today, will probably be polishing everything just to keep myself busy.

Sorry not the nicest of posts to start the day.

    Thanks all
  • big hugs shell.

no idea how to approach that one i am afraid. Perhaps saying she was very old and tired, and had gone to heaven as it has a nice garden and she can have a rest and watch them playing.

thanks for the charlie advice. Will say something fairly nicely then this morning and let you know later.

Shell, I'm sorry to hear your news. I too would probably say something like Michelle suggested.

Well, had a nice lie in this morning. Am just about to go and have a bath then get cracking on some work interspersed with some flying.

    (((hugs)))) shell.

I would suggest that if the time come then to tell them that she is heaven. Children will tend to ask any question so be prepared although they may just say 'oh' then ask if they can have some milk etc. I wouldn't suggest mentioning that she has gone to sleep forever or anything like that as they may think that will happen to other people when the really do go to sleep.

    Hope I make sense.

It is incredibly difficult time for you ((((hugs)))
