Would You Sell....

I would if at all possible return the dog and get the money back. The sooner the better, as attachments get stronger every day.
I don't think you have anything to feel bad about - you're too stretched at the moment to look after a young puppy, and also the money will help reduce the debt burden.
It would be the right thing to do in your circumstances, and I think you've got your head on straight in this decision.
Best of luck.I'm an adult and I can eat whatever I want whenever I want and I wish someone would take this power from me.

Slightly off topic but i'm off to google dog poop bins!
Sorry mollybear, my irresponsible dog poop habit has hijacked your thread! But i am a bit embarrassed by the rollicking calleyw rightly gave me!
in my defence, the dogs (2 springers) are working dogs and are out with OH all day, so it's only evening last thing at night poops, as they don't get a walk last thing at night.
All this talk of poop, it's enough to put you off ever having a dog!!!I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -
hiya,
wow, this has opened up a can of worms hasn't it!
i didn't know if i such add anything really, when i read the first bit i though god no you can't sell your dog!
but reading on the dogs as new addition and one more mouth to feed and look after and you seem to have enough on your plate
so good luck with your decision, and remember you have to do whats right for you and yours.
can i just ask who bought it for you as a gift, it just seems like a strange gift for a child (sorry if i'm wrong but aren't they very dangerous to have even without 5 young kids?) especially with a rottie!!!! (and i presume it's all down to you, how can you keep an eye on all of them!!!)
i adore dogs and had one for many years, but am teriffied of those kinds of dogs
hope i haven't offended you, best of luck on your decision.total -nov07 [strike]£25,526[/strike] jan08 [strike]£23,246[/strike] May08 [STRIKE]£21,171[/STRIKE] June 08 £20,9640 -
my XOH used to throw it in the canal at the back of his garden where the kids swim in the summer, his argument was that "It was tidal" (which it was) "so it'll wash away" but that still didn't make it right and drove me nuts everytime he did it.
If only we could train dogs to sit on loos hey, anyone got any training tips for that? ;-)debt @05/11/11 £12210.63!! slowly chipping away!!:heart2:impossible is nothing.:heart2:0 -

Bin men don't even touch bins anymore lol they are all wheeled our way god forbid they have to lift something, they are even limited to the weight they can push, and only do it one a fortnight here!
But back to OP you are actually breaking the law with the neglect so you seriously need to do something now as if someone did report you, you could be in court and serious trouble and I doubt they would take into consideration depression. Animals are vunerable they need caring for by the right people - whether they intend harm or not you could be banned or fined.0 -

I think the OP bought it herself for her and her daughter's birthday , she says in her post 'we' bought.....etc.

I dunno, i was coming out in sympathy with the bin man!
Dont want to sound argumentative - our council have very few dog bins, not that many rubbish bins and signs everywhere saying "pick up after your dog or you will be fined" so I wonder if they dont want you to leave it on the floor where are we supposed to put it

Re the OH (ostrich half, lol!!!) there is a whole other issue!!
apologies again for the poop-y hijack! interesting though that we don't know what to do with it though isn't it!Dont want to sound argumentative - our council have very few dog bins, not that many rubbish bins and signs everywhere saying "pick up after your dog or you will be fined" so I wonder if they dont want you to leave it on the floor where are we supposed to put it

Good point Di, not argumentative at all! I can just imagine the bin getting smelly after 2 weekly collections..... esp in summer, although that is less of an issue in scotland!I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0
