Another fans of bacon bits here too - the uses in our house for it is endless. Quiche, omelette fillings, pasta carbonara, I also chop it up and oven bake it very slowly with a bit of maple syrup to sprinkle into homemade pizza and homemade veggie soups and stews. I don't really buy any other meat really now apart from bacon bits and chicken thighs. The rest of our meals are mainly veggie.

  • I've found some bargain bacon pieces, 500g for 75p. Some of the packs are smaller pieces some are larger chunks, if you have a good look its easy to pick packs with minimal fat.

Anyhow, at the moment I use it for the following:-

    Egg and bacon sandwiches
    Bacon in pasta
    Bacon ommlettes
    Leek potatoe and bacon soup

Do you have any other suggestions please?

    Many thanks.

I could put bacon in anything. I've even seen some recipes for bacon cookies that I'd really like to try! My personal favourite is a smoky bacon & tomato pasta sauce made by adding fried chopped bacon to a tin of chopped tomatoes and cooked with onions and garlic until thick, then pouring over pasta. Mmm..

  • Bacon cooked with chopped shallot/onion, chuck in handful of frozen peas and blob of creme fraiche, heat through and stir into hot pasta. Chuck grated cheese on top.

  • Evening all,

I purchased 2 packs of gammon mis shapes, have eaten the ones that were the usual smaller gammon rounds shapes and now have alot of various pieces smaller thin pieces and thicker bigger chunks.

Waas wondering what i could do these would prefer turning it into another meal rather than sarnies/fillings.

    Thanks in advance x
