As you say, you now need things that the bacon can be cooked in and then frozen.

We had (YS) liver and (cooking) bacon for dinner a couple of nights ago, and have a 750ml tub of it in the freezer.
If you fold it in half, will an Audi A4 fit in a Citroen C5? :)
  • I too will portion it up and freeze it as I live alone and would find using a kilo of the stuff a bit difficult. It freezes well though and I usually get a good few portions out of a kilo I stopped buying sliced bacon ages ago a good handfull will make when cooked to a crisp a great bacon sarnie for pennies.I make them for my four grandsons and they asked their Mum if they could have 'Granny bacon ' instead of the normal sliced stuff as they prefer it now.It also is a great filler in an omelette
  • For anyone "Up North" Fulton Foods is the best place to buy cooking bacon. It's usually one big chunk (no fat) for around £1.50. I usually chop it up, fry well, and then freeze in small portions ready to add straight to omelettes, pasta, quiche, pizza etc. Alternatively I chop up and slow-cook with the other ingredients when making Pea & Ham or Lentil & Bacon soup. One chunk goes a long long way!

My teen created a lovely one pot Hunters Chicken. I think you'd be able to use cooking bacon in that well. Cut chicken into chunks or strips and stir fry, place in casserole dish. Cook bacon and add on top. Pour bbq sauce over top of the meat. Grate cheese for the topping and put it all in the oven until the cheese is bubbling and browned and the dish has cooked through.

Hiya... a couple of ideas for left over bacon....
cut into small bits and fry until crisp, place on kitchen roll to soak up fat, then you can sprinkle onto salads or vegetables

mince an equal amount of chicken ( thigh or breast) bind together with a beaten egg, season with herbs, blackpepper, chilli BUT NOT salt! make into small balls and oven bake - home made chicken nuggets :)

I also make a cheese and bacon loaf! i had a recipe for a cheese and walnut loaf, and replaced the walnuts with bacon! my family dont even let it get cold before it has been scoffed :D
