MRSMIX - I'm glad there was no serious damage to your DD. (((Hugs))) to her. I hope you and DH make up; I know how you feel. You'd sit in the hairdressers trying not to think about how much the cost of the treatment would buy in the supermarket, wouldn't you? I'd tell him you'd much rather have your hair done when you can really make the most of the luxury of it.
We're going to have to really pull our belts in for the rest of this week, now, because DH should have been paid for work he has done, the money was not in his bank, I have done my best to sort it out but, of course, you can't seem to get anywhere with people these days. The staff in the payroll office won't stick their necks out and use any initiative - it's just 'computer says nah' and that's the end of it! The annoying thing is it's their fault! I've managed to sort the immediate DDs out by deleting them from my online account and phoning the companies to say they won't be getting it this month so please don't try and collect it! At £38 for a bounced DD, I could do without that. I had already done a freezer and store cupboard inventory which I'm going to have to be even more inventive with, now! Thank heavens for OS and all the money-saving tips and recipes from you lovely OSers - they are going to keep us fed and watered for a whole week on next to no money and a dwindling supply of food!
I am a bit more cheerful now, simply because I've fended off some potential bounced charges but I am going to be on that phone all next week making sure that the payment is processed next Friday. If anyone on here lives in Stoke on Trent (the payroll HQ) then I might be asking them for a couple of heavies!
OH well, at least the sun is shining and I've got a whole load of washing dry.
I'm going to stop waffling on and treat myself to an hour's knitting now, so see you all later.

Well i managed to w*rk the shortest day that flexitime allows - 9.30 - 15.30 in a bid to catch up with some housework before the weekend. I've left my blasted phone at w*rk though and being a batty old lady don't know anyone's numbers to tel them not to panic if they can't get hold of me. dd11 is off on a sleepover tonight and will have a lovely surprise when she gets back. I have considered her well thought out treatise on the advantages of hamster keeping and have bought a cage and bits from Mr T with my very last tenner tll the tax credit comes in tomorrow. Her big sister is treating her to the [STRIKE]nasty horrible rodenty thingy [/STRIKE] darling wee creature. I am not comfortable with small quick things - in fact I don't like animals untill they are about as big as a hippo but Pets At Home are all out of hippos at the moment. gawd I've just realised that life without my phone is going to be horrid this weekend as we are out and about meeting people in weird locations and exoh is supposed to be dropping by at an unspecified-I'll-ring-you-in-the-morning-time
very very well done dlb - joannasmum sounds like today is not a good day for giving up the fags.
tattycath - i know what you mean about friends - most of my family is overseas and I moved here when dd11 was the wrong age for playground Mums and in any case I w*rk. I do have w*rk friends but we don't socialise that much. I'm seeriously considering some voluntary work and or evening classes in a bid to meet new people but that is harder if you live in a rural area
hugs again to Hilstep and GB and of course anyone else who's not having a great dayI'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 20080 -
Hello there
Been reading today and I just want to say how sorry I am about your Mum Hilstep and that poem was just fantastic. Folk have been sending me messages but not close to my Aunt but I do really appreciate your thoughts. You are fantastic as if anything happens in our lives you totally pick up. However, a tear will be shed I am sure when I go to the funeral. I am more worried about Mum who now has no senior family left at her age! That is the end of Dad's immediate family! She has lost 2 sisters and a brother and she feels it!
Jackie - lovely to hear from you. Just keep in there. This must be a horrid time for you. Your family seem to be taking care of you. They sound lovely
I might catch up again later but love and hugs to all. (I might have to go on the cooking sherry!!!!!!!!!!!)

Condolences on the loss of your mum Hilstep, big hugs to you and your family.
Sorry for your loss to Grannybroon, and hugs to your mum also.0 -
Evening all,
Hugs to Hilstep and GBroon
Its been a rather lazy day, just went to get what I expected to be a small shop in Tesco and ended up spending €47.22(!) but have got enough milk to see us through for the month...even diluted some a little before putting it in freezer to be sure. Nothing greatly reduced in there...only things were cream cakes and made up stuff...not even half price but don't buy them anyway so not worth anything to me...did get three small pots of hummous for €.50c but that's all. Horrified to see that T are charging €30 per kilo for Parmesan....€10.99 in Lidl and the quality is good.
Quiet weekend anticipated here, just OH and me and the guest some of the time
, DD4 is skiing, DGS2 is with his Daddy so won't know what to do...better get on with the knitting in case GC 5 decides to arrive early.
Hugs to all, have a nice weekend.
