I'm soprano. I love singing. I used to be in the school choir, then the church choir, (fell to the wayside I'm afraid, |I'm now non practicing). I was in a drama group for a couple of years too. Then I had this fantastic opportunity to sing in birmingham and jumped at the chance!!! My OH and the kids don't have the appre ciation for the classics and operatics like I do. I've never been to see an opera though ,but i would love to go...maybe I can get OH to taske me for my 40th next year...

    :hello: Haribo :D

Tattycath - ooooh, do go to see an opera sometime! I see you're in the West Midlands - Welsh National Opera are in Brum in March doing Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin, Verdi's Falstaff and Mozart's The Magic Flute. All of those would be suitable for a first time opera goer :)

(I'm taking Shez to see Madam Butterfly in a couple of weeks ;))

By the way, is this going to turn into one of those late night OS Daily Thread chats? Cos if it is, I'm going to get myself a little drinkie... :D

Thanks Bargain Rzl, I shall be checking out dates, times and cost etc. My OH isn't overly keen, but will take me (if funds allow) as I have just told him to open his mind to new experiences-like opera!!!:D

Can I join in too, both OH and I used to sing with the Garleton Singers in Scotland, I have also sung with the HCS and the Leicester Phil......The last thing I sang was the Vivaldi Gloria...............I love it..........so many things Gilbert and Sullivan, Church music and light opera......I was a Soprano bordering on a messi (Victor Bourg) had almost double range........now just a croak............I always said I would give up when I developed what we used to call 'the old womans wobble' ......I did!!!!!!!!!!! I'll have a small one, off to bed in a mo, shattered.....................

JackieO...lovely to see that you are taking such an interest in your food again....envy you in UK all those farm shops...don't know of one here ( would love to be corrected), we do have farmers' markets which in my little experience don't always have local produce and are extremely expensive...fish is the only thing that I would buy in any I have visited.

Tattycath....glad that you seem to have cheered up...daughters can be difficult, only one of my four was never a problem in any way....but then only one of my three sons wasn't a problem either, just grit your teeth and keep your mouth shut as much as possible....leaving the room is the best advice I can offer. Go back to your singing...wonderful destressor.
